Does Sony usually run good specials for the holidays?

    Hi,

I am thinking about getting an FW series. After going through and configuring the specs, it would end up being about $1,300 after saving about $70 with an education discount and getting a $70 Blu-ray drive thrown in. That makes a total savings of about $140 off the normal price.

I was wondering if Sony typically runs good deals around Christmas and if I should maybe wait a month or so to get a better deal.

Thanks in advance for any input.

Typically, no, not really something to shout about, especially not anywhere near some of the good black friday deals from retailers. Lasy year was a little bit different with the economy coming down and Sony had to adjust its inventory accordingly.

Not sure about this year. My guess is somewhere in between. But if I were you, I would wait and search for deals for the next 1.5 months.

Free shipping, and perhaps throwing in an external mouse or bag -- that's about what you can expect.
The laptops themselves are unlikely to be discounted, unless you check out the "refurbished" section. And then, the discounts are pitiful -- you'd expect at least 30% off on a used machine, not a mere 5% or so.

There's also the clearance center in the Outlet where the machine is new but ordered for someone who canceled a CTO. Choose "Type of Deal" and then "clearance" after sorting to notebooks.

The trick is to wait until the Outlet is running a 15% off sale -- likely in January. Then you have the best of all worlds!

    Good luck!
