I like Sony, and a part of me sort of wants one even though they don't really have anything with great GPUs.
Supposedly, according to Nvidia's driver release page, the Vaio F DOES support Nvidia's normal drivers, even though everything else Sony makes doesn't support AMD or Nvidia's normal drivers.
I just thought I'd check if anyone had had issues, or if it uses Optimus, as that seems to cause all sorts of problems and I really don't want it.
The 'F' really isn't a bad little system...would prefer a 144 or 192 core GPU instead of 96, but...otherwise it's probably pretty nice, and I almost always have good luck with other Sony products...

Given Engadget only managed to extract 2 hours out of it, I'd guess no Optimus.
As for the drivers, Sony opts out of just about every driver program, and wants to (slowly) chug out it's own. However, I think Verde is a requirement for using nVidia parts, nowadays. Of course, that means nVidia has a lot more work to do -
Cool, thanks! Yeah, it doesn't SAY Optimus anywhere, so...
Ugh, I wish "switchable graphics" would go away.
Well, Nvidia explicitly says this (and only this*) notebook is supported, so I guess I can get one!
* EDIT: I mean only this notebook from Sony, obviously. Didn't mean to imply Nvidia's drivers only supported one single PC in the entire world hee hee. -
There is no Optimus as it only has the Nvidia GPU, the Intel HD3000 is disabled at factory by Sony.

Nice, thanks! So glad of that.
Does Vaio F use Optimus?
