Does anybody use bloatware that come with Sony notebooks at all? The only one I use is Roxio Easy Media Creator as I find it usefull to burn DVD and it uses little resources. Other than that, I don't use them at all. In fact, there is not even a trace of them when I do clean install. My notebooks is so much cleaner and run faster without those bloatware.

I use Adobe Photoshop elements it is a good package and it costs about £50 to buy on its own.

One person's bloatware, is another person's essential. For example, I use the Sonic Mastering Studio for remastering some old cd's I produced and other audio work. For some folks though that app is total bloatware. Likewise I use the WinDVD software, yet others have no need for it at all.

What I think we ALL consider bloatware though are all the various bits of "trialware" foisted upon us. Yuchhh!

As soon as I discovered that I can burn DVDs by dragging and dropping onto the DVD drive in My Computer without any software, it followed how useless Roxio is or any other bloatware provided by Sony. I don't use any of Sony's bloatware.

I kept Roxio for two things, first the Vista native "drag and drop" method is dog slow, because of its silly need to create a temporary copy of everything you want on the CD or DVD. Roxio doesn't do that. Second Roxio has a cool feature of allowing me to convert MP3 files to a real audio cd on the fly.

Again, it's a situation of one person's bloatware is anothe persons essential-ware.

I am not sure though how you make the jump in logic that just because ONE piece of software, i.e. Roxio, is bloatware that everything else is too.

I forgot to say that I use WinDVD BD also. I use PowerDVD Ultra most of the time but in case I have a problem with it, I use WinDVD BD as a backup player.
