Does sony's warranty fix dead pixel? If not, do they fix it if you pay them?

Because I have a few dead pixels clumpe together like an ugly scratch, and I cannot stand it. The laptop is still quite new (SZ320) and I did purchase a 3 year warranty for it. So my quetsion is, does the warranty cover dead pixel, if not, is there anyway to get them to replace it, including paying for the parts and labor?

You'd have to call them and find out. Most companies won't do it unless you have a certain number of dead pixels. Good luck!

i have well over 10 in a cluster. They actually form a slight curved line, almost like a scratch.

For Sony the dead pixel must be 8 or more.

    So in your case: yup!

Well i actually never counted and it is very difficult to distinguish what is 1 ixel. However, it is VERY visible in any sort of background (sans black), I'd assume there're at least 8 there

I asked Sony about their dead/stuck pixel policy when I had my SZ340 (I had 5 or so --- spread out), and I was told that all LCD-related issues are always bumped up the support ladder for evaluation by a tier2/manager tech. The fellow I talked to said screens are more likely to be replaced if the pixels in question are all clustered together.

..as fair as "repairs" go, I believe the only repair available is a screen replacement.

Hmm... I've been thinking, Is there a way of creating more dead pixel so that they will repair it? I was told by the Sony Engineers that by pressing the screen really hard might cause multiple lines running horizontal or vertical.

You could probably bust more pixels, but it is probably VERY noticeable that it was tampered and didnt really just form from normal use.

Hmm once we had a batch of 6 laptops which arrived with 1 bad pixel in each of them. They said it must have been mistreated when they were delivered. So maybe I'll just need to shake it a bit to get more bad pixels :)

But luckily we have good relations with our resellers so they get them fixed even if its just 1 bad pixel.
