Does the SZ have dedicated VRAM or is the NVIDIA taking it from system RAM?

I am hearing conflicting reports about the SZ and FE. Some say they have dedicated VRAM others say there is an NVDIA chip but the RAM is all from the system RAM. Which is the truth? I know for a fact that the FS and S series had a NVDIA chip but RAM was from the system.

Thanks as this is critical in my decision on a new NB.

It's dedicated, at least in the sz110/120. I haven't used any of the Premium models so I can't speak for those.

It definately has dedicated V-Ram... what would be the purpose of including a video card without dedicated ram? The argument is how much of it is dedicated... 32mb....64mb....i was told by a sony rep that it was 128mb... but who knows sony reps often give out false information.....

On the SZ however if iam not mistaken... the GPU can be deactivated so that the computer can run on system RAM alone, in order to conserve the battery.

its either 32 or 64 dedicated then the rest is borrowed from the system ram. the dedicated + the borrowed system ram totals to 128. my friend told me this. but i'm not sure either

Even nVidia website does not reveal much about their 7400 from what I've researched. Undoubtedly the MacBook 256 dedicated will wallk all over the SZ, but if you are looking for games Mac Software is pretty slim compared to Windows. I may just sit back awhile longer and wait and see what Fujitsu/Lenovo and other laptop makers are going to do.

In any case perhaps this link will help you decide:

Certainly according to that link the 7400 is not a bad chip at all. Since I am only an occasional gamer I may find the time to check out the SZ at my local CompUSA/Best Buy/Circuit City.
