Almost everyone who has their Sony Vaio laptops that is running Windows Vista has the problems updating their OS to Windows 7 due to compatibility issue which is so so so sucks.
    Here the story.
I bought my vaio computer model VGN-SZ750n like a ago or so with a premium price $2000+ Since i've experienced with Windows 7, I really like it alot. So, i do the clean install windows 7 to my Vaio. All the problems came up on me. Lots of function that come with the laptop dont work.I gave Sony a call like 2 day ago talking about the issues. They said they will the drivers for my laptop on their esupport site on Oct, 22, 2009 on which Windows 7 in officially release. So, today Thursday Oct 22 2009, i went to the website http://esupport.sony.com/US/perl/os7upgrade.pl? to see what happen. What i've seen on the is the big hopeless announcement
Sony site says "Sorry, The Vaio Model VGN-SZ750N is "Not" supported for Windows 7"Sony quotes, "The hardware configuration of this model does not meet the minimum system requirements needed to run and provide the full experience of the Windows® 7 operating system. "
Sony site says, "Windows® 7 installation is not recommended and Sony will not be providing Windows® 7 drivers for this model." This is it?
I was shocked from that. This is completely BS
Would you buy that kind of laptop with that kind of after buying support? Would you pay a premium price for a laptop and dont get a premium support?
For me is the big "NO" and i dont think that i can buy any Sony products anymore in the future. What a bad experience.

I feel the same way right now but I dont know if all the blame should be on SONY. I mean, Windows saids "Windows 7, Worries 0." lol'd ok. Ive spent all day searching and searching for the simplest of things to work. Decide to run over to Sony and guess what, THEY DONT WANT TO BE BOTHERED. Saying they wont support because my notebook wasnt meant for Win7, blah ,blah. ? At least say in a month advance you will not support X because well, we dont want to. Seriously, my next notebook will not be a vaio.

    I'm going to nitpick here.

You purchased a working laptop, with a 100% working OS and you choose to upgrade it yourself. Regardless of whether or not the upgrade is free, that is irrelevant. No one is forcing your hand to install software on your machine that may or may not cause issues.

I think it is difficult for us to all sit here and suggest that sony or ANY other manufacturer should have their hand forced to provide support for things that were never even on your laptop to begin with.. this was never part of the deal when you first purchased your laptop. I know nothing about laws, warranties, terms of sales, etc etc that might force sony to provide support for software that was never on your laptop to begin with, but I find it troubling how many threads there are concerning this.

How can you expect any major update/release of windows to go 100% smoothly? Maybe you shouldve planned your OS "upgrade" a little more before hand before reformatting and losing vista/xp.

LOL ... Sony stated on their support pages for various models that they would be providing updated windows 7 drivers after it was officially released up until today when they changed their support pages to read incompatable hardware .

Its deceptive business practices . Legal or not its just wrong . Many pre purchased windows 7 on the understanding sony would provide drivers . I could understand not providing drivers for pc's that are a year or two old .

Thats clearly not the case . My 6 month old BZ business notebook a model still selling on sony style , mysteriously lost the ability to run windows 7 overnight .

Sony doesnt have a very good track record lately .

    GRX class action suit .

    The TZ recall .

    Bad batteries .

Not to mention the faulty fans in CS & BZ series notebooks , bad nvidia card . etc ...

    Still headed south . :(

Sony supplies batteries for MUCH of the laptop industry and many others have had battery failures as a result. Buying a non-Sony notebook may or may not help in this case.

As for the SZ750n compatibility, it is, once you find the drivers, which I have.

I don't think this issue in isolation is a reason to suggest that people never buy laptops from Sony. Buyers have cause for complaint with all vendors, for various reasons - Sony, Dell, HP etc.

This may be a legitimate complaint vs Sony (and I can see on this forum that lots are complaining, which I understand) but only if, when the original laptop was sold it was sold on the basis that it could be updated to a new OS (Win 7 in this case) in the future. Was that explicitly stated? Did that influence your purchase decision? If so, then you have a legitimate complaint. If not it's less clear.

I've held off buying a new laptop as I want one pre-loaded with Win 7 to avoid any issues. Do I expect my new laptop to come with a firm commitment that I can upgrade it to whatever MS do next in terms of major OS release? No, not really, I'm not sure that's a reasonable request although I would expect my new laptop to stay up to date with drivers associated with Win 7 as that's the OS I have bought, but not necessarily Win 8 or whatever comes next.

It's not about the commitment, but about minimum system requirement to run Windows 7. I installed Windows 7 RTM 32Bit, and all the drivers were installed and working properly (For some drivers, I had to put a different vaio model number in the model.txt). But, I was waiting for vaio to release the updated drivers, which they were saying will be available at the official launch of Win 7. But what I found out, is that the system requirement for Windows 7 doesn't match with my model number (VGN-AR630E). In other words, the minimum system requirement to run Windows 7 i.e.

    Windows 7: System Requirements

    Before you begin
Download the Windows 7 Upgrade Advisor for a more detailed understanding of whether your PC can run Windows 7.

    Download now

If you want to run Windows 7 on your PC, here's what it takes:
    1 gigahertz (GHz) or faster 32-bit (x86) or 64-bit (x64) processor
1 gigabyte (GB) RAM (32-bit) or 2 GB RAM (64-bit)
16 GB available hard disk space (32-bit) or 20 GB (64-bit)
DirectX 9 graphics device with WDDM 1.0 or higher driver

doesn't match with my notebook system requirement, which is:

    Core 2 duo T7250 (2GHz, 4GB DDR2 RAM, 8400m GT 256MB video card, BD Player, Directx 10, 320GB HD.

I don't care if the other vendors have the same issue. In this competitive world, wouldn't be a nice idea to not follow what the other vendors are doing, instead provide the drivers for Windows 7.

You know how many customers Sony have pissed off with their this MONEY HUNGRY attitude. I do have lots of friends and relatives, who consult with me for buying laptop or any other electronics item, and I'm sure, there would be many more like me, whose friends and relative ask for suggestion for buying electronic stuff. I don't think I'll be telling them to buy any of the Sony's product.

OP: Sorry but I have no idea what are you talking about. I've been running Win 7 on my FW since July, and I have literally no problems.
Same goes for the drivers. Well, actually it's even better: drivers from Japanese Vista work on US Windows 7. Awesome.

You most likely don't need Win 7 drivers. Find a manual how to install Win 7 (the order in which you install programs is essential), follow it closely, and you should be fine. (btw it looks like somebody is about to post an install guide for SZ... saw this in another thread).

@jupillam's post below: I am quite sure all features do work. Brightness, volume, Vaio Control Center and so on are all working fine.

Put it this way though, how far back as a business do you want to support your back catalog of notebooks? The SZ you have is 2 months shy of it's release date at the end of the month back in December of 2007. So close to two years old. If you were in Sony's shoes what do you do?

Do you spend a bunch of time and resources making sure there are drivers and software that are tested for a two year old notebook that they don't sell anymore, or do you concentrate on making sure your new notebooks, and their more recent releases are ready to go for the new OS?

Yes, we'd all like to have drivers and support for our older machines, but I'm sure with a little bit of work you'll be able to get most things working no problem at all with that machine. But to expect Sony to have fully tested drivers for a machine that is close to two years old (I know you didn't purchase it two years ago, but again this is from a business standpoint), it's doesn't make as much financial sense to spend that kind of money, with little to no return on investment at all.

Sony is not saying they do not want to support it, they are saying the laptops are not fast enough. Which they clearly are in some cases.

As for how old they are, not all are 2 years old, and when you purchase a higher end product you expect better treatment than someone who bought a bargain basement product.

This is simply Sony abandoning it's top tier customers hoping we will upgrade and buy new. Well, I might, but it won't likely be a Sony.

Actually, VGN-SZ750 is 100% compatible with Windows 7. ALL Vaio SZs work fine with windows 7. Mine is SZ780E and it works flawlessly (including FN Key, etc). Search and reserach this forum.

See from my point of view, i understand what Nixon is saying, but when We the consumer pay extra to get the best of the best or closest too, we do so because we expect it to be future proof. Our Laptops for ex. SZ6-7 and CS models arent THAT old, and ive taken the win7 upgrade advisor and my laptop is more than suitable and surpasses all the requirements and says that my laptop is compatible to win7.

When i was using Win7 Beta, RC1, and RTM then the drivers i had an issue with i just went ahead and installed the vista drivers. I thought Win7 was built on a base of Vista. i would understand XP to Vista, but Vista core is somewhat similar to Win7. so it cant be that much effort to put into to help its consumers. They just expect us to buy a new range laptop with Win7 installed if they dont give us support for old models. And wasnt Windows 7 suppose to be lighter and take less resources than Vista? if this is true then all Vista machines should be compatible with Win7

I know for a fact most of us dont have money to throw away every year-2years, especially $2,000+. I know there are loads of people like me who save their money to get a laptop thats meant to be PERFECT so we make sure we get everything bundled together so we dont have to worry in the future about it being too old or not future proof. Top specs, Top Brand Company, atleast we deserve some top class customer support

It is, and you are right, it is not a major undertaking at all to make it work. It's a challenge for us individuals, but for a company like Sony it would take them almost nothing to put put out the drivers.

It would cost them less to put that page and list of drivers together than it costs for me to buy a new laptop. So how many customers have they angered by doing this? In other words, how many future sales has Sony lost by leaving us hanging.

By not doing the SZ they already have lost one. Not to mention several others since I work in I.T. and make suggestions to my customers about which laptops to buy. By doing this, they just lost thousands in future sales. Not a smart business decision. Had I owned a notebook I spent $500 on two or three years ago, fine, I could see their point, however that is not what I did and it was not the first time. I buy high end, and I am (was) a repeat customer.

I have mine running Win7 64bit (it runs excellent with 4gigs of ram) but it took some effort. I like my SZ, A LOT, in fact more than my other notebooks. Yet, after 3 high end Sony's. I have likely bought my last.

I am tired of the driver runaround. They never release a normal driver, it always has an installer that locks it to the model (hello Sony, I wonder why your development costs are high, just give us regular drivers!) They also often use unusual hardware and their support stinks in general. I love their laptops, but I cannot stand the company anymore. One or two driver updates then dropping all support is NOT support. I expect better.

Sony just want us to buy their new line of laptops packed with new OS. That is BS kind of business. I bet Sony will lose costumers if they dont really care about supporting customers. I dont know if you guys remember the vaio TZ or TT have been out for not that long. Now, they discontinued with these model. TZ oR TT they both are not cheap at all. will these model's owners face to same consequences?

I've just checked their esupport.sony.com. They give up their support buy linking to Microsoft so call "Windows 7 Upgrade Advisor." I know term of compatibility but as far as i know Sony just wanna give up on supporting customers. Yeah, i'm so tired of waiting and looking for drivers.
I just bought Macbook Pro 15" 2.66ghz and install windows 7 running using latest bootcame 3.0. Everything works perfect eventhough the touchpad is kind of sensitive but i bet Apple will be working on it.
I dont mean to get people to buy Apple laptop computers but just think of the way they're supporting customers and they way they care customers.

I really don't see why there is all this whining? LOL >.> We have so many threads opened ... because of this stupid whining.

Just get off your bum (Assumed since you opened a new thread without realizing there is already a b1tching @ sony thread already opened) and do some research and find the drivers yourself, they aren't hard to find.

Not to mention, if you are super super lucky, all the drivers would have came already with Windows 7. If you aren't so lucky, then use the Vista drivers, most of them work. If you really really aren't so lucky to have vista drivers... then install 32bit version and use Windows XP drivers....

People have to realize that simply providing support doesn't mean posting drivers. Providing support also means getting staff to offer solutions or even writing up a "script" for common solutions. And allowing you to call in and ask them if you have a problem. This part is the more expensive bit of providing Support.

I've been using a Z series laptop with Windows 7 since the RTM.... EVERYTHING works on it (minus the brightness control on Speed which is part of Nvidia and Sony fault).

Sony isn't that bad as people say (no i don't work with sony), they do have pros and cons (as with every other laptop company), however regarding non-support, they are pretty good IMO.

They at least announced no support for models... I have been with other brands which don't even bother telling their customers regarding support and if you ask them they will say "We will support it" .... then wait like 1 year and they haven't even supported it yet!

If you asked me, I rather have a definite answer rather than a tentative answer.

    Caudex,
My biggest issue is how Sony is playing this. If they don't want to bother, fine. Telling me my system doesn't meet the minimum requirements isn't just low, it's a bold faced LIE.

They are willing to put Vista on an Atom and yet my Core 2 Duo doesn't meet the hardware requirements? BULL!

Lets tally up the track record here...
Poor driver support... How many driver patches did your system get before they stopped? Now go check out some other manufacturers.
Poor support for parts. Ever had to replace a single screw? Bend over.
    How about battery recalls?
The big video card recall, which Sony denied yet finally admitted to (though it is suspected that there are more problems than they are admitting).
Now they are lying to us about what can support what.

I paid a premium for a high end product (and possibly extra because it's a Sony), I expect better. I demand better.

Am I angry? Not really, I half expected this. Am I a disgruntled customer, you bet. Will they see anymore of my customers money? No, and the same applies to mine.

Caudex you have to understand where we are coming from, when you hear the name sony you hear big things, brilliant laptops, TVs Phones, its a huge name in the market and one of the top most brands. People always tell me your paying that much for a Sony? you can get similar specs with [insert brand name and model here] laptop! but we pay extra for a company who is well known for high stats, and we keep saying to ourselves no its worth it, Sony has premium build quality must have quality service, so we go ahead for sony instead of lower brand companies. i know for a fact that dell has poor bulid quality but great customer support, in the last 2 months alone my brother has had over 26 visits from dell,i think thats pretty sad,but atleat they are helping their customers.he has extra parts for almost everything related to his laptop and he has an XPS laptop. plus they have good support for their laptops including linux and such.
Everyone must of noticed that you must have pinpoint model name to get drivers working properlywhich is weird, they go through more trouble to make sure that their drivers are "special" then to release universal model drivers. for ex. the SZ line 1-5 used mostly the same parts but if you try to install the same driver but different model say SZ430 and SZ4MN then it says this driver is not support for your Sony Model...if only they apply that time to repack drivers, they would have a better consumer market, because the way i see it they are losing customers and at big numbers too.

Indeed, it's not really about the drivers but the fact that they're downright lying to the customers saying that my laptop doesn't meet the Windows 7 minimum requirements (the person who came up with that statement to be shown on the website should be immediately fired, no joke). Not only that but in my case, I have a first gen model of a laptop that's still IN PRODUCTION so once again, early adopters get screwed over for absolutely no reason.

I just expected better from Sony but unlike a lot of people here, I doubt I'll be switching to another laptop manufacturer for my next laptop. My FW still works fine and it's a solid machine and I know... despite Sony's f***ups, I'd still buy a Vaio. I just about to buy a MBP right before this Vaio model was announced so in the Windows world, there really isn't any other option for me.

They announced on the day of the official release they were not providing drivers . Had they done that 2 months ago when the RC was available it would be diffrent .. Many wouldnt have wasted their time or money on win7 .

Its no diffrent then telling someone who bought a pc 2 months ago they would recieve a upgrade then waiting till the official release to announce no upgrade.

If you see no problem with that its fine , however many have a huge problem with it .

Why would sony wait till the day of the official release to make the announcement . Could it be they wanted to " help" microsoft push thier new operating system by leading people to believe they would provide drivers ?

Did they get a better volume license deal from MS for outright lying to its customers ?

If sony thinks they are too big to fail , they are about to get a reality check ..

Same problem with my two-years-old VAIO VGN-FZ240E. I pre-ordered Win7 knowing from the Sony website that information on drivers would appear on OCt 22 only to be told on the 22nd that it is not upgradeable.

Has anyone tried to do the upgrade anyway?
What does not work after the upgrade?

My previous VAIO was successfully upgraded from Me to XP using the drivers supplied by Sony. So I expected the same treatment this time.

This turns me OFF as my future purchase of Sony products.

I think you'd be hard pressed to find another laptop company providing drivers for two year old notebooks regardless of the price. It doesn't make sense financially for the company to do it at all. Any company.

Actually, Lenovo is supporting their T,R,X60 series with Windows 7 drivers and utilities and those are over 3 years old.

Why cant a company as big as Sony just support their more recent but not necessarily their latest models. Its not like they are strapped for cash.
It would be like saying Toyota wont service or repaire your car from 2005 and tell you that theyd be happy to sell you a new 2010 model that they will provide service for.

Instead of saying "Sony doesn't support older models" they give a damn lie that your model's hardware requirement doesn't support Windows 7.

    Exactly.

Sony has already lost thousands from me over this.
I was planning an X series early next year, not anymore. Plus, my customers will no longer be getting recommendations for Sony. All told they just lost nearly $10k in sales for next year from me alone.

Why? Because they are lazy and too cheap.

You other guys can justify their decision all you want, yes, my model isn't brand new, it is recent, high end, and more than capable of this upgrade. I don't appreciate the way Sony is dealing with this, so they can now deal without my dollars. It would take very little for Sony to improve customer satisfaction (not lying is a start). Sticking their head in the sand repeatedly is getting old. I don't care how good their product is, if they treat customers like dirt, they don't deserve my money.

As much as I sympathise, you have to understand that Sony have very much the same approach to computers as their other consumer electronics. i.e. the way they sell it to you is pretty much the way it stays.

You're lucky if you get one firmware upgrade with a Sony MP3 player for example, and that's usually to fix something.

It's a very 90's approach and it's one of the reasons they're slowly but surely going down the toilet, but just a slight bit of investigation before buying would reveal this fact.

It doesn't help I know, but... well, it's just the way it is for now.

I'm not really seeing a lot of the old Sony arrogance evaporating anytime soon. We all know Sony engineers still have serious chops and possibly still the best in the biz, but the service and support aspect of Sony has always been terrible, and I really don't see that going away in the foreseeable future. The only real solution is to vote with your wallet, or to rely on the resourceful members here to come up with a workaround.

My particular philosophy with Sony - given my prior very infrequent, but always terrible, experience with Sony Support - has always been that if you think you are going to need warranty support or intend to keep it longer than an OS change, it's not worth buying. And on that basis, things worked pretty well for me for just over ten years. But the need for warranty support picked up way too much when the new flagships came out post-SZ. In fact, I booked in Sony's with problems as often post-2008 as the entire period from 1997-ish to 2008.

Even with the unusual (for me for a Dell, which I've generally had inoffensive experience of) atrocity that was the late-07 Dell XPS M1330, I talked to Dell support who had no issues with me contacting them for support with a Windows 7 loaded machine. Try that with Sony...

I'm also very angry. I bought a top-of-the-line TZ, and Windows 7 would run beautifully on it. However, Sony says I don't meet minimum requirements for Windows 7, aka they can't be bothered to support my expensive purchase.

I'm jumping ship either Lenovo or Apple.

Dell does not seem to be offering W7 drivers for their older business laptops that they had before the E series. I don't know if HP is either. It is true i think though that Sony would not offer you any support over the phone if you informed them that you were using W7 and they didn't support it. It is good if Dell is doing this.

Apple has also stopped offering full support for 2006 computers with Snow.
The thing with Sony they use software that is very much locked into Sony that makes it very hard for you to upgrade your laptop. Some of these things might possibly require a BIOS upgrade. This is part of the problem. Not many companies at all would do this for a 2+ yr old laptop because a new OS was released.

I would really like Sony to provide the drivers for their hardware like their Motion Eye webcam. I own a SZ7 I cannot get this to work in W7 64bit. I don't blame Sony but i would like them to provide the drivers. Other drivers would be welcome as well.

I would like to use W7 and don't want to return back to a 32bit OS. I want to use more than 4GB of ram. If there is no way around this i will need to replace my laptop sooner than later. I would go for a company where the support was excellent like Fujistu.

I'm not sure about Lenovo, lol their business lines are a bit too bland looking for me. If Lenovo are providing support for 2 plus yr old laptops then that is a credit to them. It is not something all companies will do but it is a real incentive to know that 2yr old computers are still being supported like this. You can hang onto your laptop for a bit longer instead of may be having to part with it in 18 months. My SZ is about 18 months old.

It is very bad though that earlier series like the FW1 and Z1 were not properly supported.

Where do we draw the line though, how long should a company have to offer support for?

Yea, Its funny, how people are complaining about sony not doing this or that. LOL. This feels EXACTLY like what it used to feel when i worked in Social Security Customer Service.

People LOVE getting more money than they supposed to, but when they get the correct lower amount (which they are supposed to originally) they just DONT listen and keep thinking they are CORRECT. LOL.

You named 1 company Lenovo which does support for beyond 2yrs, can you name another? lol. (Minus Apple, that one is special... since they use a closed line of hardware).

Cant compare servicing computers to Cars. They don't give the servicing as part of the car deal, they charge you for it which is why they can do that. Cars also are mostly very similar (like in Apple's case), which means even if they get a 10yr old car, the layout and theory in regards is the same. LOL A new idea just came out! maybe i can setup a new business! Computer Servicing, Install Windows 7 on your Laptop price will start from OS + $150 (Servicing + Labour Fees). And I will even provide Online/Phone support for problems at a additional $20 per call (similar to car checkup). LOL

Yes, they told a lie? So what? lol. Its a white lie, it hurts nobody, its not as if they are saying "we will support it" then you buy it, and bam they say they won't support it.

Also do they REALLY need to support it? LOL, For me support means call up and ask them when i have a problem. Driver Support = Go to manufacturer site (eg Intel) and grabbing the most up-to-date driver. I would never use their problem shooting support... Google is your friend, most trouble shooting support are more frustrating and incompetent (script reading) agents.

To me a forum like this (minus the complaining threads) is 1000000x better than what any company can provide me in terms of service. lol.

What i wonder is how many thousands of dollars Sony really loses from people here saying they will never buy from them. LOL XD We should do a tally one day, would be a very interesting (amusing) figure. XD LOL Then compare it to their annual revenue.

But don't get me wrong, I do believe they should up their service on their physical hardware. HAHA XD Their physical hardware service (eg. broken laptop send it in) sorta thing, is sorta outdated, and needs to be upgraded. Two weeks turn over isn't that good, with nowadays most companies offer less than 1 week (except for HP i heard and seen some bad things with those).

I do have to agree with Rachel, where do we draw the line between how many years of support is required?

You guys defending Sony are all nuts. You remind me of the people who don't let anyone diss Apple, defending their rights to profit, etc. when they screw over consumers. Do you work for Sony? If not, why on earth would you NOT want continued support for your $1000-3000 investment?

Especially considering the poor reception Vista has gotten, I would expect ALL companies to support Windows 7 throughout their laptop lines, or at least on the high-end professional computers (i.e. TZ, Z, TT, BZ). If they don't, then a small subset of professional and power users will leave the brand and head to Lenovo/Apple.

If you read the posts, it's less a case of Apple-like rabid defence, but a sort of sigh-laden resignation. We can complain, but it's not likely to change anytime soon. Seriously, I've talked to senior Sony staff about these issues and more and their general attitude was, shall I say, somewhat breathtaking given their market presence. As I said, vote with your wallets - and they might, hopefully, wake up before it's too late for Sony.

Fujitsu are still offering supporting for 18+ month old business laptops. This is about the same age as the SZ7. Fujitsu business lines do come with very good support though at least in the EU.

The majority of companies don't offer any support for older laptops. Those that do will no doubt be an incentive for some people to buy.

Like i wrote though before with some computers using other drivers might work. With Sony though and some of their hardware this will not work, like the example i gave before of a 18 month old computer using 64bit OS with the motion eye webcam. I see that for some of Sony entertainment software for older laptops like the SZ they have now started to add 64bit drivers to their website.

I think support up to 2yrs is quite decent for Sony's own software/hardware.
I own a TX and i'm not even looking for anything for that even though it was bought in late 2007.

I actually think that Sony is doing pretty well right now in terms of sales. The SR, FW and the Z series are big sellers for Sony. The CW also looks like it might do well also.

Given that some key components are often proprietary in nature, I'd say that it's a slightly different kettle of fish compared to a more standard-part machine.

I think if you yelled hard enough, Sony will change their position on Win7 support. Think about these things:

    1. They are the slowest to own-up the nVidia fiasco (granted, they probably have better thermal design than HP and Dell that delayed the onset of pandemic), but they did eventually -- we still need to yell about SZ, though.

    2. When Vista was first released, they did not support XP downgrade even on their new laptops with Vista Business that Microsoft specifically grant you the right to an XP Pro downgrade. Well, that didn't last very long.

    3. When P was first released, they don't support XP at all (because the stupid MS restriction on screen resolution, I think) and everyone has to jump through hoops to get the P working with XP. Now, there is P released with XP installed and you can get XP downgrade drivers for Vista as well.

I know their excuses are pretty lame, but just keep yelling and they will cave -- Sony do listen to customers, they are just a little deaf.

Dell is still offering support on M1330. My brother has called dell more than a few times and they said that they will be giving him a free copy of windows 7. and M1330 is as old as SZ3-4 i think. and now, Dell just said 2 days ago that since you've had so many problems with your Dell, if you get one more problem we'll give you a brand new replacement. now i dont know if this means a brand new M1330 or the new Dell XPS 13 laptop. i think thats awesome customer support, just wish Sony would do the same.

I have a question,How Does sony handle their Accidental warranties? i wanna know if its worth getting the Accidental damage from Sony or just a 3rd party warranty. thank in advance

The M1330 was introduced in July 2007 so it is about as old as the SZ6.
No W7 drivers are on the Dell website. You can get things from Dell though if you ring up and haggle and fight your case. Not everyone is going to do this though.

I owned a M1330, although you can deals i found the customer service overall to be pretty shoddy. I won't get into it here. Most people may be don't share my experiences though.

Apple and Fujitsu really have the best customer support that i have tried and i find it hard to fault their service.

    okay... just my thought,
the reason why sony stop support those old VAIOs maybe, they have other stuff to concerntrate too. not just VAIO. they make other stuff too. TV, HiFi System + Audio gadget , Cameras, Playstation *add more as i might missing some of their products lol*. so the keypoint is cost saving *cross fingers* D:
