    Don't buy one!! I bought mine the minute it came out and have had nothing but problems with it ever since. First it was replaced. Then it took months of intense Sony technical assistance to try to get stablity to the WIFI connection. Usbs have failed twice. It has been returned to Sony twice. It has been totally restored 4 times. It has ongoing problems. Since buying the first one 18 months ago it has been an ongoing saga and I have never had stablity.
    The solid state hard drive might sound a great idea but it is too small. Sony design did not take into account how much of the 48 GB gets used up for Vista and all the other crap they insist on loading onto this rather too small C Drive. Then once all the Windows and other updates keep streaming in it is very quickly full up. Because the C Drive is solid state you cannot re-particion it to gain more space.
    I have made official complaints to Sony Customer service and their response is to say (more or less) you have experienced nothing out of the ordinary, we have given you support for all your issues!!! Well if this is 'nothing out of the ordinary' then they have a BIG problem with the quality of their high range Vaios! Having had Toshibas in the past, with little or no issues, it has not been my experience to need this level of support post sales. It is certainly NOT what I call 'fit for purpose'. I certainly do not expect to have all these problems with a machine cosing £1700

    I thought that one used the C drive just for windows (64GB), to get fast bootup, and then you are supposed to put all your stuff on D: which is a 500GB HDD.

    Try not loading any applications or data onto the C drive and see if that works better for you.

    As far as USB failing, that's pretty peculiar, is there anything more to that story (like what was connected to the USB when it failed)?

    Regarding the WIFI stability, what did Sony technical support do to help you there? Was it caused by nearby interference or did it end up being a hardware problem?
