Hi, i have the VAIO FZ11L and i have decided to downgrade from vista to XP Pro, since this model has a sata HDD and no floppy to install the sata HDD drivers i went out and bought an external floppy drive.
I installed the drivers successfuly in the XP setup and it found the HDD, but then when its just about to copy files to the HDD (just after 'creating a list of files to be coped') it requests the drivers off the floppy again (for some stupid reason) and says "Please insert the floppy disc labeled 'Intel matrix storage manager driver' and press enter", i press enter and it just sits there, doesent read the floppy or anything and i cant continue because of this rediculas prompt.
Anyone have any idea's?
Mike.

Also one thing i forgot to mention:
I found this site http://support.vaio.sony.es/os/xp/downgrade/index.asp?site=voe_es_ES_cons but its half english half spanish or whatever.
It looks helpful but cant find the english version, does anybody know if there is one?
Thanks. -

XP installer does not support a USB floppy for installing disk drivers during the install process. You will have to slipstream the drivers into the installer. There is discussion of that in another XP thread here.

Well i dont understand that because it does load the sata drivers during setup (the press F6 to load third party drivers part) but all of a sudden stops loading them when it requests them off floppy like 10 seconds later, i have also read that people have claimed to have used usb floppy drives ( http://club.vaio.sony.co.uk/clubvai...84AC5B0F89A9CDFA0F39B06BBE4655BC?thread=44473)
I've read about slipstreaming the drivers before, i did try that before i bought the floppy drive, i used 'nLite' but i was unsuccessful and wasted a cd.

I think the USB floppy support depends on the Bios. For example my OLD Z505SX had Bios support for a USB floopy. Every app, even DOS, that I threw at it could read and write to the floppy. My cuurrent FZ190 has no USB floppy support so any DOS app can't see the drive.
