the sony support driver site for your model has downgrade XP drivers, however they are still incomplete for the CR series =( I am personally loosing all hope of them ever releasing the complete set of drivers. you will be able to use your CR with XP but with limited functionality. Most painful of all is decreased battery life due to no brightness adjust and power always being sent to the webcamera - regardless if it's in use or not.

    Here i'll even link you.
Just notice that the drivers offered for XP is about 4-5 drivers short of the "original Vista" drivers shipped with your vaio. Thats what i mean by full compatibility not ready.

as i looked at your list...it seems they dont offer xp drivers for you at all...

    heres mine.

I'm about to find out if this works. Sony Asia/Pacific has downgrade drivers for the VGN-CR3 series which should be largely identical to the CR320. I'll let you know this afternoon. The link to the drivers is below, they're in English.

Note that some of these drivers won't apply to your notebook. Specifically the Atheros wifi driver and the ATI video driver. Apparently Asia gets a few more choices than we do. We don't even have the option of discrete video in the CR series. The packs seem to be generic to the entire CR3 line which is good for us.

it'd be cool if all the asia drivers worked, but others have tried and basically are still left with two main issues - AV Mode not operational and Brightness control not operational. Which is pretty much the same case with the XP drivers released in america.

i also want to add that its funny that different CR models will have different XP downgrade driver options. So far i feel the 200 series has the most, 100 series less, and 300+ none.

While AV mode didn't work, the brightness control was fully operational. Otherwise it works well enough that I'm not willing to put up with Vista!

the brightness control worked for you? Do you have the model with the ATI graphics card? Even the site you listed specifically says...

    ATI Graphics Models
    a. Instant Mode can not be used.
    b. AV Mode button can not be used.

    Intel Graphics Models:
    a. Instant Mode can not be used.
    b. AV Mode button can not be used.
    c. Fn+F5/F6(Brightness Control function can not be used)

but hey...if it works then it works.
