    Hi,

I have been trying to downgrade my FW235J to XP and get a BSOD every time I try to install XP. I think it is a problem with the SATA drivers but I am not sure.

    Vaio VGN-FW235J
    4GB RAM
    250GB HDD

I would also like to know if the drivers supplied on the Sony website will work with XP.

    Please help thanks

    Hi,

Can you post a link to where I can get those ich9 drivers?

Thanks for the other links, but they pertain to other FW models and may not apply to my model. Do you know if the procedures in the other threads will work with my model FW235J?

    Thanks for the help

it works with xp x64 aswell, but make sure you get the x64 drivers for the ich9 controller.
i believe these are the ones you need to use.

cause i did it myself and first i got the wrong drivers, and then i got these and it worked. when you do the slipstream of the driver, you'll know if they are the right one. another window will pop up allowing you to choose which chipset it is during the driver integration. if it doesnt show up then its the wrong driver.

I use the drivers from driverpacks.net to slipstream the 'text mode' SATA drivers into the XP boot CD. (They have the latest drivers all pre-packaged and ready for download from their site, no need to extract drivers from intel downloads.)

Driverpacks also has the option of putting the latest OEM drivers for SATA controllers, Intel chipset, Intel or ATI graphics (incl Control Center), Realtek sound, Intel/Atheros wifi, and Marvell ethernet into your XP CD so that most things are working on the first boot. (Having the network connections up from first boot is great as it means you can get online straight away!)

Then I used RyanVM integrator to slipstream the latest windows updates (post SP3) into the XP CD and to create a bootable CD.
