    Hello,

I've extensively googled and searched this forum but found no info about a downgrade from Vista to XP on an VGN-AR6XX notebook.

As far as the drivers, could anybody help me by telling which ones I need to get and if there are there any drivers from other Vaio series that will work on the AR series?

    Thanks!!

Tried this on AR31S (european model)

Install a bootable XP with SP3 (includes sata+raid so no need for slipstreaming, F6 floppy driver loading etc etc.)

Use the drivers and utilities package from the AR21S or M(european version) this is just one of the first AR's wich had XP.
This gives you the Fn keys, battery management etc.

    exeptions:
    VCC4 camera: use vista drivers

Video: download drivers + modded .inf from http://www.laptopvideo2go.com
The video drivers can be a pain in the ***.
The procedure is: unzip the ezip self extracting file.
Get the modded inf and replace it with the original, only then you are ready to start the setup.exe.

    Audio:
Install the audio-hotfix KB835221 from the AR21M audio-driver directory before installing the actual driver.

Bluetooth: look op the links for instructions:
here some other links on downgrading:

Problem i have now is that i hear noise when the brightness is set less than maximum. Also when typing the cursor often suddenly is placed in another field or a few lines up...
If anyone has a solution i'm all ears

    As for the laptop;
Fast and nice with XP in raid 0.
Silent compared to the A series even with 2 harddrives.
Only one usb port on the back. The two other ports are on the right where i'd like to have some room for my mouse...
Also, the screen is just bright enough but nothing extreme.
