Right here's what I think i need to do.

    1. Partition the drive. I want dual boot Vista and XP (just incase XP can't do something/dies)

    What program shall i use?

    2. Create an Nlite disc
    - how can i slipstream the sata drivers?
    - where do i find the drivers
    - what can else can i slip stream, i know I can do SP2.

    3. Drivers
    - Anyone got a whole pack of drivers?

What about using the Sony Asia site?

    Thanks

All of this info is already available in other threads here. All you need to do is use the search box at the very top of the page here and look for "FZ XP" without the quotes. Remember no matter what you do you will not have function keys or power management on your FZ under XP.

The link provided seems to give a XP powermanagement driver.

    does that not work?

if not, how long does the battery last on XP?

The reports of folks doing this downgrade, so far, have all reported no power mangement. I have not done the downgrade. I use XP under Virtual PC for the stuff I have to do with XP. I looked at the link you provided but saw no list of the contents. The power mangement on an FZ is not done via a driver it is done via some DLL's and utilities.

Well, that list does look a LOT more complete than any I have seen thus far for a XP downgrade. It even appears to have the items need to support the function keys too!!! (Sony Utility DLL, Setting Utility Series and Vaio event service.) That is the first time anyone has reported this particular list to NBR. So it might now be possible to do a complete downgrade.

If you do attempt this report back because there are a lot of folks who have NOT been able to get function keys and power management to function.

Just found these last two posts recently, thought I'd confirm the power management provided in the link rossyl gave works!
I am now going to see if I can get all the function keys to work ( I already got the brightness keys working with other utilities ).

Edit: I now actually have all the buttons functioning with those apps! After all this time I didn't think I would get that to work, but now it works great :). All your downgrading problems are over it seems ( I know mine are ). Thanks a lot for the link rossyl. ( I have a VGN-FZ11E btw )
