I just noticed that the eject button on my VGN Z530N doesn't eject the dvd tray. Should I contact NewEgg (who I ordered from) or Sony about this? Does anyone else have this issue? thanks!

Contact NewEgg if it's within the return policy, otherwise contact Sony.

I have experienced this problem in my TZ too. Sometimes, it takes forever to eject a disk using the round button in front. I need to use the main eject button on the drive itself to force it to eject the drive.

    Cheers!

No need to argue here. I thank both of you, one for the explanation and one for guiding me to it. :) How would I go about renaming the drives? I just want the eject button to work!

You can't rename the drive, but you can change the drive letter using Computer Management under Administrative Tools (Control Panel).

lol. You really did just copy/paste and deleted "Miki" from the post at the bottom.

Right. it is the internet, but it's only the right thing to do to give credit when you copy/paste other's findings directly, especially coming from the same forum :D Or at least post a link to the original post and for the record:

USE THE QUOTE FEATURE TO RE-POST OTHER'S INFORMATION. IT'S THERE FOR A REASON- ACKNOWLEDGING THAT A SPECIFIC PERSON SAID A SPECIFIC STATEMENT.

    For example,

That post shows that you should put © at the end of your post to ensure people don't take credit for your findings.

    haha. :D

I had this problem w/my Z690, but (as bobet96 suggested) changing the letter on the drive gets it working again.

See, the problem is that for some god-forsaken reason, the Z-series is set to try & eject the first letter (it thinks is a ejectable drive) it sees. This can be a flash drive w/software designed to emulate a disc drive, a virtual drive (s/a the kind created by DVD mounting software like DaemonTools), or anything else it deems to be a disc drive that can be removed/ejected. How it decides what is and is not a (removable/ejectable) disc drive is somewhat random, so changing your DVD-RW (or what have you) drive's letter to D: is your best bet (assuming you don't have anything that could be a disc drive assigned to A: B: or C :). Luckily, partitions don't seem to cause any issues (the Z-series seems to recognize what those are at least) so if you have any partitions/Hard Disk Drives set to A:, B: or C then don't worry about those.

Changing the Drive Letter on Vista:
R click 'Computer' -> Manage -> Disk Management -> see @ the bottom middle section where it says Disk 1, Disk 2, etc -> R click the one you want -> Change Drive Letter and Paths -> Change -> select the letter you want (D most likely) from the dropdown menu* -> OK -> close out -> press your eject button and hope it works

Note: If D: is not available, you may have to move some other letters around (by R-clicking on the one that is D: right now & changing that drive letter) before you can assign your disc drive to D:

    Good luck dude!
