I have a SZ650 and my friend just got a SZ750 from portable one with the portable one recovery disk. Can I use this disk to do a clean bloatware free install on my version?

I'd like to know the answer to this too. I have a sz750, but my P1 clean install cd has previous generation drivers.

It should work, hardware is similar, only difference is the CPU. The SZ7 has the Penryn CPU but the motherboard, GPU etc will be the same. There will be some difference in the installed RAM and HDD size but the Vista installation won't care about that.

The only other hardware difference I can think of right now might be the webcam model, vcc7 in the SZ7, does the SZ6 have this model or the vcc5. Also the bluetooth adapter. But Vista includes MS drivers for the bluetooth and you don't really need to install Sony's or the manufacturers.

If the webcam and bluetooth adapter aren't recognised then you can download them from the VAIO support site and install yourself.

The main purpose of the P1 install is to remove the Sony software and other various 3rd party software. Drivers and Sony utils should still be there.
