    Hi there,

I wanted to reinstall my VGN-Z90US, so as for preparation I was planning to download latest drivers, as it's easily possible from the US page. But what a surprice, on the Japanese page it's written that it's not possible and I'll find the drivers on recovery discs and C:\Windows\Drivers only...which are outdated of course.

So the question is, does anybody know the source for latest drivers for Japanese Z...FTP or anything? Or should I try to use the ones from US site?

    Thanks,
    eM. :)

Is there a difference between the Japanese Z drivers & the U.S. Z drivers?

The core stuff? Not really. Granted, some may have different installers for different languages, but, say, the Sony Shared Library I would bet is the same. I've reinstalled more English OSes on Japanese Vaios than I can count over the past five years.

Now, if you want all of the original Japanese stuff - good luck. Sony Japan doesn't generally publish that stuff.

I'm tempted to get one of the importers to buy me an official recoery disc to get some of the SW they don't put on the US ones like SonicStage Mastering Studio.

Yep, I was not successful...I would have to hack the installer to be able to get the core files. If you think that Sony support is bad, you should see the Japanese one...better not to ask them anything or you'll just get headache. On the other hand, I'm always getting very good results even without clean install, just uninstalling the crap (like anything SonicStage ;))...and cleaning registers, tweaking services etc...right now I'm having 68 processes running at the startup. I also exchanged my HDD for SSD and my Z became dead silent in Stamina mode...will probably make some report later :)

Thank you, but unfortunatelly Japanese Vaios have different number lineup and most of these drivers have version check...so it wouldn't work probably...

Version checks can be easily bypassed with a utility like Universal Extractor. I know because I use the latest drivers from all over.

You can remove the version check ... it's what I do when I get some of the stuff from elsewhere. Everything works, but Sony like to try to lock stuff into regions. Easily gotten around, though.

Are you looking for Japanese language stuff or English stuff?

Sony Japan has for the most part been good to me, but I'm dealing with importers so I only see the end result of when I send it to them to deal with Sony for repairs :)

Thanks, I'll remember that next time :) I tried to open it quickly with WinRAR but with no luck... It doesn't matter for be if the driver is in English or Japanese...anyway most of them change the language automatically, when I change the language of OS. I was just surprised that in Japan you can't download latest drivers one buy one...
