    I just ordered a Sony Vaio S15

Now I need to get the screens for it.

I'm thinking of getting one 21.5" 1080p Screen by Asus, but would the screen be able to display 1080p through a VGA Cable? the Vaio only has a VGA port on it.

Now in terms of another screen, is there a 17" 1080p External Monitor available? if there is, I would prefer to get 2 of these instead, because my desk is only 32 - 34" wide.

Secondly, how can I connect my second screen? would I need to get a USB to VGA adapter? would that not produce any lag?

    Any help/advice would be appreciated.

    Thanks.

VAIO S15 has two video-out ports, one VGA out and one HDMI out, and both are capable of outputting 1080p video.

So I could connect 1 screen to the VGA port and one to the HDMI? and then use one monitor as my primary screen and the other as the extended screen? I thought it wasn't possible to do it that way? I read somewhere on this forum that it cannot be set up that way.

no, you cannot. SONY has disabled that feature in Windows, so you can only connect one monitor to either the VGA port OR the HDMI port (apparently, it's possible to do under Linux). besides, the ports are very close together, and there is not enough space for a VGA connector and an HDMI connector side-by-side.

ok, so how would I go about connecting 2 monitors?

One to the VGA, and then where does the other one go? would I need a USB to VGA adapter? I don't want there to be any lag.

Get a 32" monitor and open multiple windows on it.

You've probably already solved this by now but anyway, with my S15 I ended up cutting the plastic away from the VGA with a sharp knife and whacked the metal with a hammer. Works good with my (clean install) of Windows 8 :)

ah, so you have both the HDMI and VGA ports working at the same time?
