    Dumb question-but how often does Sony have sales?

    I've been thinking of getting an AW, and Sony's had a sale where you got basically $150 off a CPU upgrade, and a free Blu Ray burner upgrade. But...they're both gone today.

    Anyone know how often they run things like that? I was surprised to see those discounts to be honest.

    sony normally doesnt do alot of sales but more like free updates like what you stated the most i ever experienced off a sony is 10% off or $200 off when a model becomes outdated, but with the crap economy you will probably get some REALLY good deals i've noticed better deals on notebooks now then ever.

    Thanks...well, hopefully they'll run that again. I'm still kind of leaning towards the AW, and maybe would have ordered had I realized the sale was ending. Oh well, hopefully another one will hit.

    Sorry I'm going to hijack this thread a little bit...but i didn't want to make a new one.

    Will they have any sort of sale on the Z series in Canada? Cause I noticed sony really doesn't like to give sales to Canadians. (or i've never noticed them before...)

    Actually, with the soaring USD (and the lag in pricing updates), prices for the Z are quite good in Canada. For example, in the SonyStore in Montreal, a clerk was willing to offer a free 1 yr. warranty upgrade (worth 200$) for a 2,000 CAD Z555 with high-res screen and 2.4GHz processor. That would be 2,130 CAD with a 3 yr. warranty, or ~1,750 USD with the current conversion. That's *much* better than 2,318 USD for a similarly spec'd z590 at p1, even with the current bundle offers. The U.S. stock/credit market crash has least one upside.. (if yer still employed that is).

    Hmm...interesting...I guess that is an okay price. I dunno, haven't really been to the sony store in my area for a while, they don't ever want to like talk with anyone that walks into the store and they just screw around at the counter all day.

    And it also doesn't really help that an apple store is directly across the hall from them with all their flashy coloured employees lol.
