    VPCEC1S1E/BJ

I just bought an E series VPCEC1S1E/BJ second hand, the machine is in great condition, fresh win7 64bit installed, ready for use and everything works great except for the lid switch. In windows power options i have set the machine to sleep when the lid closes. When i close the lid nothing happens. I checked the vaio control centre and the setting were the same for the lid. I removed the vaio software but it made no difference. If i sit it flat on a table, close the lid, then lean hard on the front of the lid, it goes to sleep mode. So im assuming the switch, where ever t may be is faulty.

    Any suggestions guys?

I have completely dismantled a laptop before so happy to try and fix this if its not too much trouble.

Inside LCD bezel near camera, there is a small square magnet to activate the switch when you close the lid completely down.
If it doesn't work or sometime work, you should open LCD bezel to make sure the magnet is in the right place.
It should be on either left or right side of the camera (webcam).

To open bezel more easy, remove 2 screws on top corners. You don't need open whole bezel.
Try to open from inner edge of bezel (where it meets LCD panel). By doing this way, it will be less breaking clips around bezel.

Many thanks for the help, i did as you suggested and i found the magnet had been dislodged from where it should be, so i used a tiny amount of glue and glued it back in its location, now the lid works great. Its just held in with double sided tape, not really a great idea imho.

A huge huge thanks for you help.
