Does anyone know if sony still follows through with their warranties if a computer is bought new on an auction site like ebay? Also, does anyone know if you can extend your warranty to 3 years if you buy in an auction? Thanks

As long as the seller is an authorized sony dealer then everything will be ok. Otherwise assume there will be no warranty, even if the seller states there is one. You have to be careful as alot of the electronics gear that is "new" may very well be stolen and if that is the case, if it is ever sent in for repair and the serial # pops up as a stolen unit you won't be getting it back and you may get a call from law enforcement. If you want a new notebook, then buy it from a reputable dealer or online store and remember if the deal seems too good to be true it probably is.
