Electrical sensaton/ tingling on palm rest:

    Three questions on this topic:
    1. Has anyone had this problem on the SZ models and been able to solve it? 2. If not, is there any new information from sony on the problem?
    3. If you send it back to sony for repair, can they actually fix it?

I can definitely feel it on the SZ160 that I purchased. Otherwise, the laptop is great, but the electrical sensation when i am touching the palm rest is a deal-killer for me. I was thinking of perhaps taking off the palm rest and covering it in a non-conductive material (like the invisible shield material used to protect ipods, cell phones, etc.). Any thoughts?

Unfortunately, I can feel it pretty regularly when typing. I dont like the idea of being able to feel the electrical feedback on a regular basis... just something wrong with that concession. I'll probably return the laptop if there's no solution.

You can feel it when typing??? That's odd - it's one thing to intentionally rub your fingers on the metal palmrest to CREATE that "vibration" or whatever, but it's entirely another to feel it when you're typing... If I felt anything when typing I would IMMEDIATELY return it.

Alas this seems to be "normal", so there isn't yet anything to fix. Also, there are several notebooks out there with the same issue (the commonality seems to be that they have metal exterior panels where this can be felt).

I figured i would take a crack at trying to replace the ac adapter.

Instead of buying the kensington, i bought a targus (with the third prong for the ground)... and it worked. Plugged in and charging now and there is no electrical feedback on the metal palmrest at all! Not sure why it didnt work with the kensington.
