Just read that Sony has merged the F series multimedia notebook line to the S15. :(
No F series models this year (or ever? )

The F series line was the closest to being a "gaming" VAIO with high end quad core i7 CPUs and decent GPU. Now all the new VAIO notebooks have the same base quad core as highest option and pretty much same GPU.

Sad indeed. Hope I'm not the only one who is dissapointed by Sony's decision to discontinue the 16"/16.4" line.

Yeah, Sony seems to be focusing solely on the sleek portable aspect of its computers and discontinuing the multimedia/gaming factor. Hence why all their computers have really poor speakers...

I guess they feel like they don't need to compete in that area.

I'm so disappointed with the new line up :(

There is not a single new VAIO that interests me. I was hoping to upgrade to a F3 with an even more brilliant 16" 3D screen, but sadly there is NONE !

    What a shame really !!

F 3D put every other 3D TV/monitor to shame last year with its 3D quality and the screen was better than anything else Sony ever used. Now all we get are poor quality screens and the IPS SE with orange gate !

The Z screen is good but too small for a lot of people.

Gaming means good driver support. Something which Sony is notoriously bad at. :p

Sony posted huge losses last quarter. So it's no wonder they're shedding excess baggage from their lineup. But with Windows 8 due this fall, new models are certainly possible. An F with a touchscreen maybe?
