I'm trying to do a complete recovery on my sony vaio Z with the recovery discs, which i created first thing when i bought the computer. However, it gives me this error saying that the first recovery disc is bad. Ironically, I created the recovery discs using the laptops own recovery tool and dvd burner.
So I'm resorting to using the hidden recovery partition drive to do a complete recovery. This time, when the process is at about 95%, it pops two dialog windows with these two numbers: 304 and 305. I can close the windows but the whole recovery application would hang and I'm forced to restart.
I'm being screwed twicefolds here. What else can I do to get my factory default system back? Thanks.

That's at least five people so far that have the same problem. When the recovery DVD creation app doesn't do any verifying, the only way to find out is by trying a restore. And I have yet to hear about anyone who successfully restored from a DVD, only from the recovery partition.
When I received my machine, I burned two sets of DVDs, and knowing that no backup is complete before you've verified that you can restore, I immediately tried a restore. Both failed on the first DVD. I then restored using the recovery partition, and threw away the DVDs. These were high quality DVDs, which haven't given me a coaster ever, and, indeed, verifying the DVDs shows no errors either. But a restore does give a cryptic 304 error after a while.
Are there anyone here who have successfully restored from DVDs on a Z?
