Have you tried restarting the computer with the cable plugged in...sometimes that works if not you'll need to go device manager to make sure the driver is correct and if it is go to control panel, network and internet, connect to a network.

    thanks,

    it did not work.

When i move the cable back and forth into the plug, it goes on and off. so I guess this is a hardware problem. you guys here the clic when u plug a ethernet cable?

So now I guess im screwed

Yes you should hear a click and if it's loose I would try another cable for a secure fit.

tried 4 diferent cables, they all click in my other 2 computers but not in my 2 days old Vaio.

very disapointed. this is a custom laptop with max spec. This is a complet waist of time.

There is a reason why I don't own a single Sony product.

You better get with the company you bought the computer from and see about doing an exchange at this point.
