Hey folks! I posted about this problem in the Windows 7 forum, but after researching around the web, I thought it might be a VAIO issue w/ Windows 7.... specifically w/ how (maybe?) the VAIO power management works with Win 7. I'm pretty sure it's not a heat issue, and am more interested in fellow VAIO user-experiences w/ this.
Here's the deal: every so often, my SZ will just blink off --- same effect if you just yank out the battery when running on batter power. It'll restart to the "Windows shut down improperly" menu, and I'll restart as normal and things will be fine to the next power-down.
The event log, which has shown this "critical error" (yeah, I'll say) has happened 23 times since the beginning of Nov. (when I installed Win 7). Here's what it says:
Event 41, Kernel-Power: The system has rebooted without cleanly shutting down first. This error could be caused if the system stopped responding, crashed, or lost power unexpectedly.
EventData
BugcheckCode 0
BugcheckParameter1 0x0
BugcheckParameter2 0x0
BugcheckParameter3 0x0
BugcheckParameter4 0x0
SleepInProgress true (note that sometimes this is listed as false -- happens in and out of sleep)
PowerButtonTimestamp 0
...have any other VAIO owners experienced this w/ Win7? Since hte power just blinks off, I'm tempted to blame VAIO power management =-- as there were some issues w/ it when I first installed Win7. Is there an updated version of Event Services that might play better w/ Win7? I realize Sony doesn't officially support the SZ w/ Win7 but, well, you know the score.
Thanks for any input or advice w/ your own experiences or thoughts.
