What do you put in it? Or what should you put in it? The only device I can think of is a TV Tuner, or should I get a USB TV Tuner and save this little slot for something more important? What do you Sony owners put in it?? :)

    Most of us - nothing.

I believe you mean the PCMI slot, isn't it?

You could add Wi-Fi internet, but you've got that built in.
An HSDPA modem - but that's built in in some models. (WWAN)
I've seen USB ports that can be added via PCMI...

No, it is called an ExpressCard slot
PCMCIA slots are only on older laptops

and to answer the OP's question, I don't put anything in it, cause all of the features i need are already built in to the computer, so i don't need it, but i might in the future (wimax :p)

I use it for 32GB of data. I have a 64GB Samsung SSD. I bought the Transcend 32GB express card from Amazon for 109 including shipping. The HD tune is 29MB for read and 8MB for write. After copying 25GB of data - took soooo long, I just use it for reads and it is fast enough at 29MB -just like a thumb drive that doesn't stick out and you can use the adapter for the express card to plugit in the USB port - very cool. I use it in the performance mode and always remove the drive when not using it to conserve battery.

I'll be using my FWs expresscard slot for either a CF card reader, or to add USB 2.0 which will also allow me to move the usb devices to the left side of the laptop, away from where I do my mousing around.

I use it only for this memory card adapter I got at Fry's Electronics.

Basically it only reads these 3 cards: CompactFlash (CF), xD-Picture Cards (xD), and SmartMedia (SM).

Basically every other memory cards besides SD cards, and Memory sticks

I actually use it for a Scandisk memory reader too. I can get 18MBps HD tune with SDHC cards verses the very slow Ricoh readers that come with the Z. The Ricoh can only do 4.7Mbps.

The latest feature missing from the Sony's is eSata for fast file transfers to external drives. Can anyone recommend a good eSata expresscard that they've actually tried?

I dont know if my regular sata express card is also an esata expresscard, but I've recommended this one to lots of people, and they were all happy with it, especially the consisient speeds it gives out

It was a little pricey, but it was well worth the cost.

yeah, i think the only difference between esata and sata is that esata is external, but from the specs on the website, the transfer rates go up to 3gb/s
which is what the capacity for an esata port, so technically, your card is and esata port
