Expresscard and SD cards? Do you have a card reader that is Expresscard based?

If you have an on-board Memory card reader, you can try reading the SD card. I am guessing you own a Sony ,since you posted there - I don't think Sony notebooks will read anything other than Sony's proprietary memory stick , the duo, and the pro duo.

Which is why the OP has an ExpressCard Media reader...

That doesn't sound right that it would crash though. Can you try that device on another PC (or get a USB reader and see if the problem repeats)?

I've got the same problem. The expresscard reader is very selective in reading cards. Mine wont read any miniSDs with adaptor (128Mb, 2Gb), but will read rs-dv mmcs with adaptors (64Mb, 1Gb, 2Gb). It reads all my standard SDs (32Mb, 64Mb, 1Gb) fine.

I'm thinking of junking the expresscard and getting a different brand version. All the cards work on standard USB card readers I have, and the SD slot in my ASUS notebook.

I can't find any updated drivers for it :(

My SD cards do the same. I have a SZ38 which is the same as the USA SZ360. The Expresscard SD reader just does not work.

Do your ExpressCard readers handle other formats if you have any to test?

I have now tested it with a 1 Gb MS Pro Duo (via the adapter), and a 32Mb xD card (only one that I have). It works fine with those, it's just the SD that gives problems - it doesn't even work with my 1Gb SD cards. Unfortunately that is the one format that I need it to do, the SZ already has a MS Pro Duo reader and I don't use xD.

Sony is not really into SD, maybe they just made a hash of the SD reader.
