ExpressCard merlin XU870 LOCKED or UNLOCKED?

Can someone help me please.

is my merlin XU870 express card that is bundled with sz4vwp locked to T-Mobile or is it unlocked?

If locked does anyone have the unlock code...i am in a country without T-mobile so it will be better if I can get a local service.

it is an EU sz4vwp bought it direct from sonystyle sweden...but it was shipped from uk.

I hope that it is because it is T-mobile branded. I finally got through to T-mobile girl and she said i am out of luck and it is LOCKED.

Is yours also branded by Tmobile and if yes did you test it with another provider? If not, how do you unlock it?

My card is T-mobile branded too und I've bought it from sonystyle direct. The card itself isn't lock, but you need a carrier independent software or you have to change the setting of your original T-mobile software.

what software do you suggest?

and finally, what a relief to have someone who has already work this out...that Tmobile person told me to call sony or buy another card ...glad i don't have to do that

You're welcome. I get the same answers from T-mobile - it was as good as a play.
I'd prefer software from your carrier because of the configured access settings. Unfortunately Novatel provides no software.

 

I have original Novatel software now. If you would like to test it, check your pm.

 

my expresscard says 3.6 but the novatel says 7.2 .

has anyone applied the firmware upgrade

where is it and it does not seem to be at the Novatel website?

did i miss the link somewhere? or is there a special place to download software from novatel?

The new firmware for your card provides your local operator, because of compatibility card/network, e.g Vodafone.

Currently there are few companies only, that support 7.2 MB/S out there.

Generally there is no drivers or software support from Novatel.

 

Hey, can you tell me where I can get Novatel's software? Ive tried T-Mobile's latwest software but its crashing vista every 20 minutes after using it!

I have a SZ3XWP from germany, with T-Mobile HSDPA Card. The card ist not locked, however the software from T-Mobile is. I use the Vodafone Dashboard Software, even if I have an E-Plus UMTS SIM. Works perfectly, SMS also, even under Vista. Give it a try. Funny thing, the Vodafone Software für OS-X is locked

Mobilink for Merlin XU870

when i start mobilink.exe it says that i don't have permission to extract this package. where is the problem ?

It's designed for Sony Vaio only, i.e. you can install it on Vaio computer with Vaio Utilities only. Try this one, it's without any dongle.

It says that my card is locked and i need the unlock code.
I bought the card from Netherlands online shop: Vodafone XU870. I live in Bulgaria and the card can't work with Bulgarian Vodafone operator - Mtel.

Do you know another unlocking method except the unlock code from Vodafone Netherlands because I'm not sure that they will tell me the code.

Sorry, I have no idea. I think VF NL is the the right place to ask for a unlock code, but I guess itsn't for free.

Hi Visioneer, I own an XU870 also, and I used it with my WinXP-based notebook (it's an ASUS, not a Sony though) without any problem. Some time ago I installed Vista (clean) in my notebook to Vista, but I didn't try to install my XU870 again until I downloaded the Vista-compatible Mobilink software that you provided. It works without no problem with Vista, thanks heaps for the link.
I want to ask you something. My notebook uses an Intel 3945 WiFi card, and under WinXP, the Mobilink software can recognize the card (in the WiFi section). However, the case is different in Vista. The Mobilink software (which I got from you) seems to not recognize the WiFi card (in the WiFi section). Does this also happen in your computer?
