    How much normally costs to get extended warranty on SZ330 for 2/3 years from SONY?

    Is it worth to even buy the extended warranty at the first place?

    I bought the extended for my dell, with the spill protection, and couple months into school, one drunken night i spilled liquid all on my laptop, and it wouldn't start up, they replaced everything within 5 days...

    So if your a idiot like me, and may have some unexpected mishaps with your notebook...it would be worth it I think...

    My SZ260 will be 1 year old next month. It looks like I'm still within the window to purchase the sony extended warranty or accidental protection plan. You can purchase them online through various retailers, newegg, amazon etc. for less than what sony sells them for.

    My question is, does anyone know when the sony extended 2 year warranty starts? Is it the purchase date of the warranty? So, if i buy it now, I get 2 more years with the 2 year? Or is it calculated from the original purchase date? I went on sony style and if you purchase an extended warranty when you buy the laptop, it looks like the number of years for the extended warranty is calculated from the initial purchase date. So, with a 2 year extended warranty, you get a total of 2 years. In my case I would be getting 3 years for the same price simply because I waited a year to buy it. So, I'm a little confused.

    It may be possible you already have an extended warranty.

    Check your credit card agreement...some will automatically double a 1 year manufacturers warranty to two years (if it fails in the 2nd year. it's paid for by the credit card company.

    I've never tried this because I've never had a failure of a product within a doubling of the mfg warranty, but I believe my card provides this feature.

    After looking into it a little more, I've come to this conclusion. The Express Ship warranty adds onto the original factory warranty. So, if you buy a 2 year extended express ship warranty, you will get 3 years total.

    If you buy the onsite or accidental damage protection extended warranty, it starts from the purchase date of your laptop.

    So, since I've already had my laptop for a year, I will try and get the additional 2 year express ship warranty.

    Please correct me if I'm wrong.
