Some people were looking for pics of the extended battery. I've got both, so I did some shots of them next to each other, and some of the extended battery in the computer. The quality isn't amazing, but you should be able to get the idea.

I've run the battery eater test on the laptop with both batteries as well.

SZ140 (customized), stamina mode, wireless on, max brightness. Battery eater on classic (most draining):
    Extended battery got 2:21:12
    Standard battery got 1:30:18

Same settings, Battery Eater on reader:
    Standard battery got 3:14:32

In actual use, the run times are much longer. The regular battery got 2:27 with wireless on, speed mode, when I was doing normal type tasks on the computer. I've only had it a couple days, so I don't have any other tests done yet.

Thanks for getting the pics. If I were keen on the name Kwazimoto for my laptop, I would get one.

Don't think I could live with it as a primary battery.

As a secondary battery for occaisions when you can't get to an outlet I guess I could live with it. For example if your company only allows you to fly economy long haul (no onboard power).

However, I think I would strongly consider getting another standard battery instead to be honest.

Honestly, it's not pretty, but when it's sitting in front of me while I use it, it doesn't really make a difference. I would not want it as my only battery, but as someone who almost never gets to fly first class (I'm a college student) and spends a long time at school several days a week, I wanted the extra run time for my backup battery.

For me, it's easier to carry the battery around than it is to deal with moving the AC adaptor all the time, and the battery is useful in more situations than an extra AC adaptor would be.

Understand entirely. It does give you alot of flexibility.

How does it affect the weight/balance of the machine?

Obviously it's heavier, I don't know exactly by how much. Don't have any kind of scale so I don't really have a way to check. I don't notice any issues with the balance of it. It props the back of the machine up some, which some might not like.

NP, I wasn't looking for exact weights, I'm sure those are on the web somewhere.

Just trying to get your impressions on how you find it. As often a little extra weight can feel like alot more depending on where on the machine it is. And vice versa.

For example if your carrying it open, from desk to desk. Or using it on your lap, or supporting it yourself. Do you find the added weight right at the back of the machine upsets the balance of the machine?

Still not sure I've explained what I mean here :) but hopefully you get it.

When using it in my lap, I notice no difference at all. It doesn't feel heavy towards the back or anything like that. If anything the extended battery is better for true lap use because it lifts the back end up a bit to the notebook stays cooler.

I haven't really had it long enough to give you an assessment of the differences in carrying it around with the extended battery. I don't think I would want to transport it to school with the extended battery in as a ride a bike and carry it in my backpack and I think it would press on my back funny, but that may not be true. I'll probably test it out Monday.

So far I have not noticed a "magnified weight" effect with it.

What about typing on the notebook, is it affected in a positive/negative way due to the fact the notebook is slightly slanted?

I think that really depends on the person. I don't mind it, but it's not a major improvement for me. I'm sure some people will really like it, and others will hate it.

i think besides the old S series keyboard getting in the way of them making a straight back battery, is to give it a lift. thechnically its more egonomic now with the slant. :)

Technically, it's not more ergonomic. For it to be more ergonomic than the standard configuration, it would actually need to slant more in the opposite direction.
