At my office, I have my Z12 resting on a docking station that is connected to an external monitor and bluetooth keyboard and mouse. Is there any way I can use the computer with the lid closed?

yes there is. this is merely a windows setting. right now i'm on a desktop so i can't tell you where exactly it is, but i think it should be somewhere in control panel -> power options
there you should be able to specifiy what to do in case the lid is getting closed. if you choose "do nothing" or similar, you should be good.

Yep. If you just click on the little battery icon in the tray, click on "More Power Options" in the window that pops up, and you can set what closing the lid does for all of the available power plans.
