Now that I've got a F series here's a new thread with tested and working drivers and utils for a clean install. The SZ and AW drivers threads are still going strong with 1500+ and 500+ downloads respectively.

Drivers and Utilites are from US & EU VAIO Support. All drivers have been extracted to bypass the model version check.

    How to Install

    • To install extract the archive to a folder, e.g C:\drivers.
    • Open Device Manager and right click through each device selecting "Update Driver Software". See pic Install_Step_1.jpg
    • Select "Browse my computer for driver software". See pic Install_Step_2.jpg
    • Browse to C:\Drivers and make sure "Include subfolders" is checked and click Next. See pic Install_Step_3.jpg

If an updated driver is found it will be installed. Don't worry if an updated driver isn't found. Some devices don't need updates.

    Drivers

    Notebook Utilities

Note : Install the numbered Utils in the order listed and reboot when prompted or the Fn buttons may not work.

    VAIO Applications

    • Arcsoft WebCam Companion (3.0.21.193)
    • Corel WinDVD BD Update (10.0.5.164)

Yes, thanks for pointing that out again.

Not everyone knows what they need to download when visiting the above links, over 4000 downloads for the SZ drivers and 2000 for the AW drivers shows this.

If you had done your homework rapidpoints are worthless. In the AW and SZ drivers thread I have given away over 200GB in download traffic for special periods (at my own expense).

If you want to download direct from Sony, go ahead, but no need to have a go at someone for helping others get all the drivers and utils they need in one place.

The drivers, utils and apps have all been extracted to bypass model and region checks. Not all users feel comfortable doing this either. And when I have more time I will add drivers from the device manufacturers which are newer than Sony provided, as I have done in my previos threads.

I recently purchased a VAIO F series from Best Buy (Win7 64 bit, i7, 6 GB RAM, 500 GB Hard Drive, Blu Ray Playback, nvidia geforce gt 330m 1GB, etc.)

This is first Sony notebook. Any suggested remedy for a bluish color distortion on all video playback (blu ray or local mpegs, etc.). I tried paying with the display and nvidia setting. No luck. I even tried updating the nvidia driver from nvidia's site. I was unable to download the updated driver because nvidia stated my driver was customized to work with the VAIO's custom playback buttons. They directed me to Sony. After scanning for updates using the VAIO Update utility, nothing came up for the nvidia drivers. I'm close to returning it to Best Buy. Any suggestions? My pics / images look fine. The issue is only with playing videos (bluish color distortion).

    Thanks,

    Juan

    Hi there!
I have 1 year old model VGN-CR353 having vista installed. I want to migrate to Windows 7 with clean install. Since there is no support of Win 7 from Sony for my model, what solution do you suggest?

You should take a look at the owners lounge for this laptop. Someone has uploaded a ICC color profile. It makes a big difference on my F11.

    64-bit hardware drivers won't work for a 32-bit install.

The SZ thread is big because of much trouble and work went into making it work. It may seem like Sony is helping, but the reality is the downloads on their site for it are atrocious.
