Hello there, I just switched on my new vpcf13s0e for the first time and it takes you throught a series of windows set up screens with a light blue background. On looking very closely at the screen, I can see a slight dark band along the bottom edge about 5mm wide all the way across. I have never owned a computer before so I am wondering if this is a normal charachteristic of laptop screens or whether there is a slight defect with the screen. It is only a little darker than the rest of the screen so maybe it is within the normal tollerance? Does anyone else have the same model with this "dark band"? It is the premium 1080p version. (Maybe I'm just being overly fussy cos it cost so much?)
Thanks

Hey, welcome to the forum. Can you please take a picture of that black line? From what I read from your description so far, I guess this has something to do with the edge LEDs. Picture will help judging wether this is a defect or not.

This seems to be a common problem with certain European Premium screens on the F. No one has reported getting it fixed: http://forum.notebookreview.com/son...7-owners-thread-part-5-a-266.html#post7065608
Edit: To make sure you're talking about the same thing, the problem they reported looked like this: http://forum.notebookreview.com/att...s-i5-i7-owners-thread-part-5-sonyvaio_f12.jpg -
Hi.
It's "normal".
I had F for a while and this was one of most annoying things. When using office applications, browser etc. you can't rly see it, cuz it's hidden behind bar... but hey... it's multimedia ntb for movies and photos. On full screen it's rly pain, specially when you know bout it.
All premium (in EU) I saw had it. Be it F13 or F12.
Checked in multiple shop displays - all same and even ppl selling them had no idea they are there -_-
I claimed mine cuz of this and pixels and they gave me another with same bar. Service told me, that it's "characteristic feature" and it's normal.
Funny cuz cheaper F versions with glossy screen don't have it. Haven't seen it on other Sony models so far. Why premium screen, on one of top models, has to be messed like this...
F13 Screen - dark band
