I tried installing the updated bluetooth driver for my fe590 (TOABLT-01071609-US.EXE) per the directions on the sony site. During the installation it fails to detect my bluetooth device (listed as UGX in device manager).

    1. I have tried turning off the wireless switch until it asked for the bluetooth device.
    2. I have tried using the original shipping drivers.
    3. I have tried VAIO recovery.
    4. I have tried rebooting between uninstall and install.

None of it works. This is the most frustrating driver update I have ever encountered. I even checked the hardware id and it matches the inf in the installation package. I am at a loss. Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks.

was it working before the update?, mine (FE570G) never work and i dont have any device listed as UGX in Device Manager. Try this, uninstal toshiba bluetooth stack, Uninstal that ugx in device manager, leave bluetooth enalbe in wireless switch utility but turn wireless switch off (i mean the one that you can push to on and off) now reboot , after reboot, launch toshiba bluetooth stack installation, when it ask you to plugin your bluetooth device, turn on the bluetooth & wireless switch most probably it will detect it. if a found new hardware pop up just ignore it or leave it.

Thanks for your reply. I tried what you suggested but it got stuck in the same spot. To answer your question, my bluetooth worked fine until I tried to update it. Ugh! I am trying really hard to avoid recovering the whole HD just to get things back to normal.

I was able to hack the Microsoft driver to work with the FE590 bluetooth module. The problem is that it detects my v270 mouse but it does not work. (The cursor does not move). I am really hating Sony update routines at the moment.

Any one else get this thing working? Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks

I am having the same trouble with mine. I have not tried hacking the Microsoft driver though. Does yours work correctly now? Any direction as to where i can find info on that would be helpful. HELP!
