    Just wondering if anybody has compared the Duo T2500 and the T2400. Is there any noticable difference in justifying the $200 price difference in the
    T2500 chip? I already placed an order with Sony for a customized FE590 with the T2500 core chip, but now I'm getting second thoughts. After my initial excitement of placing my order wore off, I started thinking maybe I should have just gotten the T2400. Since I just placed my order last night, I might still be able to change it? :confused:

    compare the price difference between 1.83 and 2 GHz. I beleive the price difference is not justified, considering the incremental performanca increase.

    I would get the 2400. Later on down the road, you can upgrade to something faster. Possibly a Merom chip.

    The price difference for the highest spec chip is almost never justified unless you know you need it.

    I agree the T2400 has a much better price/performance ratio. I think the performance increase from 1.86 to 2.00 will be minimal. For me it was more a psychological reason to get the T2500 over the T2400. I wanted a 2 infront of the dot.

    This is one of the questions I had in mind as well. Does anybody know the difference?

    In may intel will be massivly slashing their prices on the core duo chips, Get the minimum you can live with for now then upgrade later, a user on notebookforums upgraded his and he said it was very simple.

    There is no significiant differences among these dual cores. It is probably psyhological thing to suppose bigger number is the woww number. But it is not true.

    Such as;

    T2300 - T2400 - T2500 - T2600...

    SYSMARK 2004SE;
    T2300:1.39
    T2600:1.66
    1.60 730 SONOMA:1.00

    T2600 is %19 better than T2300...think 2400 and 2500? probably 2400 is %5-6,2500 is %10-14 better than T2300.

    PCMARK 05 SYSTEM TEST;

    T2300: 1.49
    T2600: 1.74
    1.60 730:1.00

    PCMARK 05 CPU TEST;

    T2300: 1.51
    T2600: 1.96
    1.60 730:1.00

    T2600 is %29.8 better than T2300. Put the %10 margines among T2400 and T2500...

    3DMARK 05 OVERALL TEST;

    T2300: 2.12
    T2600: 2.28
    1.60 730: 1.00

    3DMARK 05 CPU TEST;

    T2300: 1.71
    T2600: 1.97
    1.60 730: 1.00

    T2600 is %15 better than T2300...so T2400 is %5 better than T2300,and T2500 is %10 better than T2300...

    SPECint rate base 2000;

    T2300: 1.89
    T2600: 2.33
    1.60 730: 1.00

    SPECfp rate base 2000;

    T2300: 1.94
    T2600: 2.19
    1.60 730: 1.00

    T2600 is %12 better than T2300,and other %3-4...

    As you see, I dont find so logical to buy a T2400 and T2500 instead of T2300. When I look at prices...T2400 and T2500 is real performance is not much than T2300 but money is big. 300-400 dollars are very comic to take T2400 instead of T2300.

    On the other hand, T2300's performance over 730 sonoma s very significiant. I think T2300 dual core equals to Sonoma 2.0...

    regards,
    CDTRF
