Hey all,
I just received my made to order fe790, I'm reasonably happy and will probably post a review soon. However, the first thing I did was a clean install and everything is fine except that the camera driver on the sony support site is wrong and xp won't recognize it. In the device manager I have the lovely yellow "?" next to the "USB2.0 Web Camera" even after trying to update the driver manually.
Does anyone have the correct driver for this thing? Or maybe the specific model number of the camera so I can try and find the right one? I have to admit, after owning a couple of Dell notebooks I'm a getting a little uneasy about the sony support network...

OK, found my own solution. The driver under the FE-790 support site is for the wrong camera model. To make the thing work, the driver for the FE-770 can be downloaded and applied...go figure. Why does the Sony support site suck so bad compared to other manufacturers anyway? You'd think a company this big coud figure out some drivers and a website.

I had the same error in the device manager after a clean install of XP SP2. I tried downloading the driver for FE-770 but now I am get an exclamation point next to 'Sony Visual Communication Camera VGP-VCC1' under Imaging devices.
Any suggestions?? -
