    Hi there,

I just got my laptop recently and everything went fine until today. I hear this ticking sound on the left hand side part of the keyboard/DVD ROM part. It goes "tick, tick" every few seconds. Sometimes every 2-5 seconds, sometimes 30sec. I've tried restarting, closed all programs and all but it is still there. Also, I can't seem to burn DVDs. Wanted to try to update but there's nothing available for my laptop model.

    Any ideas please?

    Thanks.

if this sound comes on when you're leaving the laptop at idle, not using it, then it must be the hard disk head parking when not used
