So I never see much on the FJ series in this forum. I've been looking for a 13" or 14" widescreen for a while, and I just restumbled onto Sony's FJ site. There's a configurable FJ now--the FJ290. It seems pretty decent.

Does anyone out there have any experience with the FJ series? Can you tell me what you think of them overall? How's the heat and noise level?

I too am interested in this laptop. I currently have an HP Pavilion DV4170us, and the 15.4" screen is just becoming to much to haul around all day between my classes at school.

I saw on ebay for relatively inexpensive, the FJ150/W which is a Centrion 1.7ghz, 1gb RAM, 80gb Hard Drive, DVD Burner, for about $1100 with a 6 month warranty.

I haven't been able to find anything on the FJ150, nor really much on the FJ170 either.

    Can anyone help?

I have had the FJ170 for sometime now, but I have used it like two or three times.. all in all, I will just say that it was not what I was expecting (lighter, build quality, etc.) so I've been waiting for the ZS.

FJ series is fashionable but low-end product line. All the plastic parts and peripheral device (CDROM, USB ports, headphone ports... are flimsy and cheap. The price is not reasonable at all.

The screen is the lowest quality of all the VAIO NB's.

Actually, that's not true at ALL - it's the complete opposite! The LCD on the FJ is one of the BEST displays on ALL current VAIOs! Much nicer than the S, SZ and TX series which are the more expensive models. It's the irony of Sony - the 'budget models' seem to have the BEST displays. The FJ, FS, and FE displays make ALL other VAIO displays (with the exception of the elusive AX) look inferior regardless of their higher price tags. Compare the brightness, whites, blacks and color vibrancy with each other in person and you'll see it in a second.
