Can you guys help me decide between the FJ and FE?
I like the portability of the FJ, but I like the overall look of the FE.
I need to be able to carry it to work everyday, but I dont mind getting an extra adapter if necessary.
I do some 3D chemical modeling and the FE seems better suited for that.
    Any suggestions?

The FE is very nice I think, one of their better products. Plus you have the option of Core Duo, if that chemical program takes a lot of juice. You could also consider the SZ if you decide portability is more important to you. That one also has power to burn.

    Thanks!
That's what I was thinking. The SZ would stretch my budget a bit I think.
I'm leaning towards the FE in terms of performance; how "unportable" is it exactly?

I don't know, the SZ can be had for $1500 - $2500 depending on how you want it. As to portability, you're asking the wrong person. I think the 3.3 pounds I carry is too much.

Well.... I think its settled then.
    FE it is!
Not sure if this has been discussed here before, but should I custom order from sony style or get it from amazon?

At this point if you choose not to customize you will not be able to get it with the nVidia graphics card. If you would like to have the GPU rather than use integrated graphics you will have to custom order. unfortunately... if this was not the case i would order somewhere else myself.

okay I would customize, which would be best to do so? FE and SZ offer the 7400 while the FS offers the 6400

    Ok, having second thoughts again.....
Amazon has the SZ110 for 1999 plus a 150 buck rebate.
Its still about 250 more than I wanted to spend but if its way better than the FE (not just for portability)..... think it may be a good idea.
    Any opinions?
