    Hi,
I am the sad owner of a Sony Vaio Laptop, Model PCG-K23. My Fn keys for audio and brightness no longer work. Does anyone have any idea how I may get them working again? I've searched the web with little success.

I's appreciate any help you could give me.

    Bryan :(

Have you recently changed any drivers? I know both my laptops and my desktop required drivers for the extra functions on their keyboards. Do any other functions work (If you have any)?

I haven't installed any new drivers lately. I run Win XP Pro, SP2. My Fn F12 key works - places my Laptop in 'on 'standby'. Does this help?

Sorta. I've seen keyboards with a standby key that dont require any additional drivers before. I'd assume since the audio isnt working that the drivers for your keyboard have stopped working (driver isn't really the correct term but close enough).

Looked up your model on the Sony website and found a likely candidate called 'Sony Notebook Utilities' which includes a 'hotkey' utility. Try uninstalling your current version of this software and download and reinstall the latest one.

    Hi Grand Admiral,
Thanks so much for your input. I had tried this already, although I had not uninstalled first. This time I uninstalled and then reinstalled the Sony Notebook Utiltities. Rebooted the system and still no change. I'm at a loss as to what to try now.
