I just reinstalled windows vista in my comp (it took forever but i went from installing 2000, xp, then to vista) and when I reinstalled vista my FN brightness key's don't work. (My other FN keys work for sound and such) Anybody have any solutions? Thanks in advance

Order of driver reload to fix hotkeys (reboot after each install):
1.Shared Library 2.Utilities DLL 3.Event Service (2 and 3 may be bundled together as Sony Notebook Utilities)

Hey guys, unfortunately, I've tried everything that I can think of to make it work, reinstall vista, install appropriate drivers, etc... but to no success. So, is there an alternate program that will allow me to modify the brightness to decrease or increase it?

I did a semi-clean install of vista on my n365e and my brightness keys aren't
working either. I have only tried them once and haven't had time to look into
it yet. If I find out I'll keep you posted but am also curious to hear fixes from the board experts as well.

I am assuming you have been to this site and check or tried some of the updates? I was looking at one under the everything tab dated 4-17-07 called notebook control & utilities and thought that's where I would start as time permits.

I think for Fn Brightness to work properly on any Sony model you need to get offical video card drivers for your model from sonys website. There are custom details in the installation *.inf that describe the Brightness level control for the graphic card drivers and Fn control. Or you will have to make your own custom *.inf and find the values. Not the best solution at this point in time.

not necessarily im using intel provided drivers for my tz and the fn buttons are working fine. he needs to follow bananapuddings advice and uninstall all those programs and reinstall them in that order and restart after every install. Make sure you install all of them because without the one another it wont work hope you get it worked out
