I did a clean install today after intalling my ocz agility 3 and I now cant get the FN keys working. I installed the vaio event service software after reading this is what makes the FN keys work but when i install it the keys still do not work, all i get is two little indicators in the system tray for the caps lock and num lock. Ive been through the rest of the software on the sony europe support site and cant seem to find anything.

On another not how do i get the card reader drivers to work as the folders dont have anything i can run in them.

The card reader drivers should show up as unknown devices in devmgmt.msc

right click on them, and manually install the driver files by pointing the "update driver manually" to the folder that contains the card reader drivers.

As for the first FN key, I hope someone else could chime in.

try this order (find dedicated files for your model number at sony support webpage):

    1. Sony Firmware Extension Parser
    2. Sony Shared Library
    3. Sony Notebook Utilities

This should give you back Fn functionality (brightness, volume...)

    Cheers,
    Miki

Normally for the Sony Function keys to work - these drivers in this order are required to be installed:

    Sony Shared Library
    Notebook control and utilities
    Sony Notebook Utilities

And if you installed any of these in the incorrect order you will need to uninstall ALL of them and reinstall them in the proper order.

Are all of the above required utilities required to make them work as i was trying to keep sony bloatware to a minimum

You asked, we answered. Yes you need them all. These items are not bloatware.
