    FOR ONCE AND FOR ALL: is 64bit (vista or 7) possible in sz680 under FULL functionlity??

    I recieved a very bad headache from this topic :mad:

    Can my cursed vaio (sz680) run vista or 7 under 64bit?? YES it can :)

    Did sony provide us any 64bit drivers?? NO it didnt :mad:

    So is there any way that somebody has a sz680 which works 64bit and EVERYTHING is working...?

    Everything is: 1-Recognition of the model sz680 to the OS
    2- FN keys
    3- S1,S2
    4- Smart network thinge
    5- HDD protection, webcam and fingerprint

    The rest of the drivers are easy to find...(8400m gs for example at laptopvideo2go)

    I say we try to SOLVE this issue once and for all and make it in the sticky topic....what do u say??

    By the way I heard a rumor that says that some of the thinges i mentioned can be installed from the normal provided 32bit app...is this true?

    yes, its possible and there are posts on this very forum about sz6xx and how to install the drivers in order. you use the 32 bit apps like notebook utilities, etc. the only thing that may not work is "Recognition of the model sz680 to the OS." im unable to do a bios update now BUT i did update the bios to the latest one before my upgrade to vista x64. i have sz650 vaio laptop that im typing on right this very second. check out some of the posts by me and you find direction!

    so the same SONY utilites that can be dl from their support page can work on 64 bit?

    All the Sony laptops have some odd Windows 7 issues here and there (mainly the FN keys). While most of us would prefer Sony to release even beta drivers (like HP and Toshiba have done), they didn't. It's still a pre-release OS. Sony will support it when Windows 7 comes out, so it's not a big deal. You're just feeling the pain - as most of us who are running Windows 7 (especially 64-bit as I am) - of being an early adopter.

    64bit vista is working 100% with SZ680. I have a SZ780 with 64bit vista Ultimate. Everything works under FULL functionlity. Seach this forum. This question was answered several times.
