    Both memory slots are full. Each slot has a 256MB RAM module.
    Memory Speed: PC2700 (333MHz)
    Memory Technology: DDR-SDRAM
    Installed Memory: 512 MB
    Maximum Memory: 1 GB

    need help . i want to buy 1 GB ram ( 1 stick)

    this is the spec i got it from compusa.com

    i read/ search from the forum and many users suggest to buy ram from
    newegg but i have no idea which one is right for my laptop .

    1/ if there are 2 slot, can i make it 1 GB for 1 slot and another slot is 256 m
    then comes out to ttl 1256 ram. **above spec saying max mem : 1 GB**

    2/ if the combination of exisiting 256 m with new 1 Gb ram, would it decrease the speed performance because long time ago, a computer guy told me this may affect the speed. i don't know if this is true.

    3/ if possible, please direct me to the correct link which ram is right for me.

    4/ how about the combination of 512 m + 256 m ? because 512 m price
    looks cheaper. please give some comments.

    Did you have response for your question ? I am thinking buy a FS790M, but i don´t know if I will can put more than 1gb of ram.

    Max. RAM is 1GB and 2 slots. Possible combinations are only:
    1. Buy 1 stick of 1GB and install.
    2. Buy 2 sticks of 512MB and install.

    Other than above won't work. The BIOS won't read anything >1GB.
