Hey everyone, I've been having this problem for a few years and I've finally decided to ask for some help on it.

I have a Sony Vaio FS680 that I purchased roughly 3 years ago. Around the same time I purchased a Samsung 20" LCD with a monitor input. I'm using a VGA cable to connect the laptop to the LCD, but having no luck. I have used this exact same cable to attack several other computers to the same TV successfully. I've concluded it must be something wrong with this specific laptop.

Does anyone have any suggestions or experienced a similar problem? Your help is very much appreciated.

did you use the Fn+F5 (or something) key combo to toggle between the external monitor and the internal one?

did you check the laptop with other monitors? perhaps a re-install of the windows might be in order. three years of usage may have changed something in the config. .

I've actually done complete reformats at least once a year over the last three years. Each time I've tried connecting to the LCD and it's never worked, even when I first purchased the Vaio.

I've used Fn+F7 to switch between monitors, but my TV never receives a signal. However, I know that my computer can at least recognize the TV. When I open the nVidia GeForce window, it shows "Samsung" as the secondary display. I've tried using it as a clone and as an extension, neither of which worked.

I just find it weird that every other desktop/laptop I've tried works with my Samsung LCD, but my Vaio doesn't. I know Sony and Samsung are competitors, but I doubt that has anything to do with it.

I actually have an FS760/W which is a later version of your notebook. It works perfectly fine with a 42 inch LCD tv that I have using a VGA cable on the RGB mode. (TV is vizio).

some monitor expert will have to helpyou there.
