Has anyone tried to upgrade their FS750 4200 RPM hard drive to a 7200 RPM?

This upgrade worked very well with my FX210 but I'm looking for feedback before trying it on my new FS750.

There's no reason why it won't work, I don't know if many here have tried it though.

My concern is will the heat generated by the 7200RPM hard drive be too much for the motherboard.

I don't think that will be the case. You shouldn't have any problems upgrading to the 7200RPM drive.

If you are still uncomfortable with the 7200, you could try the 5400RPM drives. They're a big improvement over what you have - 33% faster than 4200RPM drives. ;)

I have an extra new Hitachi Travelstar 60GB ATA/IDE 7200PM hard drive in the box so I'll try it out next week or so. I've already max the memory to 2gigs so the extra hard drive speed will be nice....Thanks for the feedback brian and Chazman.

@Lex: When you upgraded the Harddrive to the 7200rpm drive could you please run 3dmark03 or 05 and post your scores? I really want to know how much the HDD and the memory improve the performance.

The RAM will make a difference in 3DMark. The hard drive will only improve your loading times, it has no impact on the actual benchmark scores.
