    Hi,
After upgrading to win 7 on my FW I lost the memory stick detection, reading and writing, the SD card is detected fine though.

My second problem is that the Fn keys are not working; only the Fn-F2 (Mute) is working but with no graphical indication, also the volume -,+are working but with no increase or decrease volume status bar shown while pressing. I installed settings utility, shared library, even service, control centre, I was told to install SFEP driver too but could not find any exe setup file in the folder though.

Any help will be greatly appreciated.
Summary of the problem: MS functionality lost
    Fn keys not working
media and S keys are not working (despite the vol but that does not show any graphical representation while in operation)

First. Are there unrecognized devices in device manager?
2-nd. Install SFEP. Open device manager. right click on unrecognised device - refresh drivers - search drivers manually - search on drive C. It should find it.
3-d. install vaio control center (if you already installed Shared library before).

PS Of course you must uninstall Sony Control utilities before all that.

    tell me if it helped

Thanks James, yes I found an unknown device. I did what you told me it installed the SFEP alright. The thing is, it still displays no graphical feedback with the button presses. What about the sony control utilities where can I uninstall that..?
P.S. The memory stick problem solved :) thx used the driver update thing

the same thing with cardreader. install driver then manually search using device manager.

About controll utilities... Sorry "Notebook Control and Utilities" means Original - Sony® Notebook Utilities... uninstall this. Then all sony software like event service and other IF IT STILL WILL BE SHOWN IN UNINSTALL SOFTWARE MANAGER.

reboot and install notebook utilities again - it should bring you all FN buttons and display that

EDIT: too late :) I already wrote about cardreader

For the function buttons order of driver install is important:
    1. Sony Shared Library
    2. Sony Notebook Control & Utilities
    3. Notebook Utilities
These will all be listed under the download page for your model - since you upgraded to Win 7 (same like I did), use the Vista version if Sony did not supply an updated version.
Also suggest a re-boot after each block of drivers (some will require it).
