I just recieved my FW 190 CTO with Hi-Color Screen.

Whenever I move the laptop or touch the screen it causes the screen to look slightly blurry or fuzzy for a split second.

Its only for a slit second but I dont think this is normal. Any vibration seems to cause this.

When you guys move the screen or cause vibration, what happens. Does the image look the same of does it change.

Can someone tell me if they have a similar issue with there Hi-color screen? Is this normal or just a defect. Maybe its a software driver issue?

Only respond if you have a Hi-color screen.

    Thanks for you help. :)

Yikes. Mine doesn't do that, and I've never heard of this problem before.

Sounds like you got a defect, unfortunately. :(

Well, yesturday I went to a sonystyle store to check other Hi-color screens.

They didnt have an FW hi-color but did have AR with Hi-color. It did the same thing. I think this is just a attribute of these sony screens. Its only noticeable on non moving darker images.

    See if yours does this.

First, Try changing the desktop background to a solid blue color.

Next, have the laptop on a table or somthing flat. Now, softly tap the back of the screen to cause a slight vibration.

    or

Lift the 2 edges of the lower keyboard a little off the table a bring back down again causing a little vibration.

Look at your screen when doing this, let me know if see the problem as I do?

I can't duplicate the problem. Then again, I don't often have a solid blue color on my screen, nor do I softly tap the back of the screen to cause a slight vibration.

And come to think of it, I don't often lift the 2 edges of the lower keyboard a little off the table and bring back down again causing a little vibration.

    ;)

    lol@SG...

Agreed...blue background aside, why pick up by the keyboard and drop it? Doesn't seem to be good practice, though I did try it on mine, and I have no idea what I'm looking for, as it seems to be acting quite normally from my experience.

What exactly are we looking for again?

Im not saying to do this hard. Just lightly. Looking for a uneveness in the screen. Its easy to see it on darker colors.

Slightly OT but are all FW screens hi-colour ?

    If not, what's the difference?

hi-color option adds a second lamp behind the screen so it will obviously be brighter, but sony claims it also adds more saturation and contrast. Sony doesn't state how they accomplish this (the eco and hi-color versions have the same resolution and I'm assuming it is probably the same screen- maybe different coatings?), but side by side comparisons does show a richer experience with the hi-color screen.
