    FW 64-bit drivers and 32-bit Vista Compatibility

    I am looking for the very latest drivers and utilities for my FW notebook. I have 32-bit Vista but the latest 32-bit drivers from Sony are for FW3. FW4 drivers are newer but they are for 64-bit Vista. Which of the 64-bit drivers that are 100% compatible with 32-bit Vista?

    You need to install other FW's 32-bit drivers until Sony releases 32-bit drivers for your model (Sony doesn't usually do that).
    Sony's newer utilities are both 32/ 64-bit compatible.
    You can always install the latest drivers (except for a few hardware) directly from the manufacturer's support site.

    The FW4 is likely being released somewhere with 32-bit Vista Business at the very least. In fact, I seem to remember just Home Premium 32-bit as well. I think I even posted about that (Europe and Asia, I believe) several weeks ago when I went hunting to help another forum member.

    One strategy is to go to the support sites for the FW4 models (or Google them) to find which models are being released where with 32-bit operating systems and to download from there.

    Update: http://www.notebookjournal.de/tests/sony-vaio-vgn-fw41-e-h-933 reveals that that European pre-configured model comes with 32-bit Vista. There you go!

    Try Sony Australia site. They have both 32bit & 64Bit drivers.
