I really want to buy FW but its low end Radeon 3470 video card keeps holding me back. Sony do offer much better Radeon 3560 but it is not available for US customers.

I want a 16.4" screen, 1600x900, 16:9 HDTV aspect ratio, as good as or close to Sony XBrite HiColor quality, less than 1.5" thick, less than 6.7 pounds, has Blu-ray drive and has a video card in the order of GeForce 8600M GT with 256MB VRAM or better.

Alienware has no 16.4" screen and even their 15.4" notebook is more than 7 pounds. Acer has 16" screen but it is not 16:9 ratio and weighs more than 7 pounds. Is there any other laptop out there that meets my requirement?

    Acer does have a 16" 16:9 with 1600*900 and also a 1920*1080!

It's cheaper than the Sony, but the build quality is less and so is the screenquality I believe. (havent seen the FW yet)

    Aspire® 6920 AS6920-6422
    Intel® Core™2 Duo Processor T9300 (6MB L2 Cache, 2.50GHz, 800MHz FSB); 4GB (2/2) DDR2 667 SDRAM; 250GB hard drive; integrated Blu-ray Disc™ drive; 6-in-1 card reader; Acer® CineCrystal 16.0" WUXGA (1920 x 1080) TFT display; NVIDIA® GeForce® 9500M GS graphics; 802.11a/g/n WLAN, Bluetooth®, gigabit LAN, V.92 modem, integrated webcam; eight-cell battery; three-year limited warranty

There should be a Montevina model too.

Thanks for your suggestion but according to Acer site http://us.acer.com/public/page9.do?...=en&ctx3=-1&ctx4=United+States&crc=4165979425 , the notebook is 7.7 pounds which is heavier than my 6.7 pounds threshold. Portability is very important to me.

Acer and Sony are the only 16" laptop makers as far as I know.

If you go 15.4" Dell 1530 comes in the picture that is light and can have a good screen too.

and maybe not your cup of tea but.. the MBP 17" weighs in at 6.8 pounds and has 1920 by 1200 screen and 8600M GT with 512MB of GDDR3 .

I've been looking too... I think the answer is "not really."

    At least not yet.
