My new FW Series (the $999 from Best Buy) will not consistently shut off the display after 10 minutes as I have it set then enter sleep mode.

If I manually say sleep it always does.

Sometimes it works like a champ... other times just stays up all the time.

Do you think this is a HW issue ? Vista issue ?

How does one go about debugging this ?

    TIA.

Pick a plan in "Power Options", then go into "Change advanced power settings" and make sure all the setting there are what you want.

Vista has an adaptive screen off mode. It's in the advanced power settings as bubbatex mentioned. Turn this off, as it readjusts when the screen should be turned off, regardless of what you set it to.

    I have done that.

I have it set to 10 minutes screen off, 20 minutes sleep mode for both AC & Battery mode.

Sometimes it works perfect, sometimes does nothing, sometime does screen dim but no sleep mode.

Maybe I need to return it since I am still in my 15 day return period ?
